Father’s Day Troll Stroll & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #813
This past Sunday, we went on a Father’s Day Troll Stroll. The Troll Stroll is an art installation called TROLLS: Save the Humans that is on exhibit at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, New York, from June 1 through October 31, 2026. This touring exhibition features six giant folklore inspired troll sculptures made from reclaimed materials. The artist, Thomas Dambo, created these delightful sculptures to share a message about the importance of recycling and reusing our trash. He created these adorable trolls to “teach humans to rediscover nature and inspire them to be good stewards of the earth.” The trail walk is a little over a mile with each…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 26: Pink Tribal Print Kimono & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #812
Welcome to another edition of Adventures in Thrifting, where I highlight and style a thrifted or preloved item that made its way into my wardrobe. I have been obsessed with long flowy robe-like garments for as long as I can remember. In the very early 2000s, I purchased two gorgeous robes from a small high end boutique in Montclair, New Jersey. I can’t remember the name of the shop anymore but I do remember very vividly the two robes I bought there. Both were floor length garments with long sleeves made from sheer fabrics. One was black with a tan tribal pattern and the other was white with a colorful butterfly…

Farts are Always Funny & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #811
Way back in my former life, I had a significant other who did not find toilet humor to be humorous at all. I, on the other, have forever preached that farts are always funny. There really are no exceptions to this rule either. In fact, the more inappropriate the situation when a fart is released, the funnier that particular fart becomes. A loud fart in a quiet room will always elicit a laugh. A silent stinky fart anywhere may cause some to gag and choke but they likely will still be laughing through that aromatic experience. Whether it’s a well-placed fart or an ill-timed gaseous release, someone within hearing or…

Oogie’s Ice Cream 20th Anniversary Celebration & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #810
On Saturday, I celebrated my 52nd birthday in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of Oogie’s Ice Cream, my sister’s vintage ice cream truck that was named after our father. If you click the link to her website, the cover photo shows little toddler Archie with my sister’s granddaughter. It’s one of our favorite photos of all time! When we were kids, my father rented ice cream trucks for a few consecutive summers to make some extra cash. These were the summers when I was about 10-12 years old. My sister was old enough to drive so she was put in charge of one of the trucks and I rode along…

Are You Pooping? Bathroom Makeover & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #809
I haven’t done much painting or home improvement projects since the fall because I really need the longer hours of daylight and warmer weather before I embark on large renovation projects. When working on indoor projects, it gets very difficult to paint when the sun starts setting as it casts all sorts of shadows onto the walls and indoor lights are never quite sufficient. It’s also important to have warm weather so you can open the windows to prevent choking on paint fumes or sanding dust. I finished Archie’s bedroom makeover in the fall and put my painting projects away for the season. But I started growing impatient to begin…

Another DIY Tee Shirt Poncho & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #808
Last week, I shared my first DIY tee shirt poncho that I created from one of Archie’s old Fireside Collective tee shirts and two very old tie dye wrap skirts. It turned out so wonderful that I immediately set about to making a second one. Before I get to the details of this tee shirt poncho, I must mention how very simple this project is. It requires just a few cuts with the scissors and the ability to sew a few straight hems. Honestly, the hems don’t even have to be all that straight to complete this DIY poncho. I can’t sew a straight line to save my life but…

A Big Blanket Story Worth Sharing & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #806
Don’t you just love it when you find an amazing product and then later discover that the company itself is equally amazing? This is exactly what happened with the Big Blanket Company and it is a story that is absolutely worth sharing. My first introduction to the Big Blanket Company happened right before the holidays when their ads were bombarding all of my social media accounts. Many unwanted advertisements just annoy me, but every once in a while there is one that really grabs my attention. As a person who tends to run cold, the idea of a wearable blanket really appealed to me and I began hankering for one.…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 25: White Floral Dress & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #804
Way back in September 2020, a group of five other bloggers and myself kicked off our Thrifty Six group in an effort to draw attention to the environmental impacts of the fashion industry and share ways to decrease that impact by styling fabulous outfits using preloved, secondhand, or thrifted wardrobe pieces. A few days later, I began this fun little Adventures in Thrifting series to highlight additional preloved pieces in my closet. In 2020, I estimated that approximately 30% of my wardrobe consisted of secondhand items found on resale sites, in thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales, or simply handed down to me from someone else. Over the last six…

The Gabriela Duster by Soft Surroundings & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #802
I have a few confessions. I am a shopaholic. I love clothing and accessories. I am a maximalist when it comes to personal style. And I am susceptible to advertisements featuring beautiful apparel…especially when said apparel is on sale. I honestly can’t remember where I first saw the ads for Soft Surroundings but I suspect it was on some social media platform. Social media seems to be overrun by ads these days. I generally find this overabundance of advertisements rather annoying. And then an ad for this gorgeous Gabriela Duster in a Peacock Paisley print popped into my life. The duster length, the mixed prints, and the stunning color palette…
