Adventures in Thrifting Part 30: Another Jumpsuit & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #818

I had planned to share this outfit on Wednesday, but the days completely got away from me. That seems to be my story every day this summer. My kids have kept me so busy that I rarely have an hour that isn’t interrupted by someone wanting to eat, someone needing a ride somewhere, someone wanting to eat, someone needing to be picked up, someone wanting to eat, laundry, dishes, someone wanting to eat, mowing the lawn, and food prepping because someone always wants to eat.

Some days I want to scream into the kitchen sink that I simply cannot clean another pot, pan, spoon, fork, bowl, or plate. Yet, the dirty dishes just keep manifesting in the sink (because someone is always eating) and I can’t just leave them there. I mean, I can leave them there. But I don’t. Won’t. Can’t. Sometimes I do though. On very rare occasions when I give myself some grace and leave the dirty dishes until morning.

On most days, however, I just feel blessed and grateful. I embrace supporting my family in the best way that I know how…by making sure that all of their needs are met and by providing them with a loving, caring, joyful, calm environment where they can thrive. And sometimes (actually every time) that takes priority over any and all blog posts.

So let’s get on with it…

In last Friday’s episode of Adventures in Thrifting, I shared a super groovy new-to-me floral jumpsuit styled with a preloved crochet vest. I mentioned that the jumpsuit was one of three newly thrifted jumpsuits that have found their way into my closet room this summer. Just like the funky floral one, I picked this jumpsuit from the rack and put it back twice because of my inherent dislike of jumpsuits. But it kept nagging at me to try it on. So I did. And I really liked it.

Although it’s not as loose and baggy as I’d prefer, I found the cropped length appealing and the fitted top created a sleeker silhouette for adding this beautiful sheer ruana (preloved by Daenel and generously passed on to me). As much as I’ve been enjoying the brightest colors my wardrobe has to offer, sometimes I really like dark earthy tones for a more pastoral aesthetic. And the combination of black and brown has long been a favorite of mine.

This jumpsuit could be worn without an under shirt, but I decided to add a black cropped tee because my bust was busting out. And that’s not a good look, in my opinion. Even if it were a good look, it’s not very comfortable so this tiny tee came in handy. I created a column of black from head to toe with my black cowgirl hat and my black Salt Water Sandals.

The black foundation of the outfit really allowed the beautiful print on the topper to take center stage. To further draw the eye to the colors in the print, I piled on some of my favorite necklaces in the same earthy colors and added these crazy big macrame earrings that I picked up at the thrift store for $1. I freaking love these earrings so much! They are big and bold and bohemian and lightweight which is a necessity.

Going to the bathroom is still and will always be a giant hassle in a jumpsuit, but they are really cute and comfortable when not using the toilet!

Oh I LOVE jumpsuits so much. It’s hard for me to resist buying them. This one was such a great find and works perfectly for setting off that pretty topper.

Sounds like you need to have regularly scheduled meals instead of eating-on-demand; that would really help control time in the kitchen. But I sure know about dishes. There are only three of us, yet the amount of dishes I have to do everyday is ridiculous. That’s one of the drawback of cooking all your own food from scratch.

Oh Amy, I wish I could have scheduled meal times but everyone is operating on completely different schedules right now. Archie works 5 days a week with a varying schedule and Ralph has so many different activities that he gets hungry like 8 times a day. He must be burning about 5000 calories a day right now. LOL Oh my gosh, the dishes though! It is definitely a downside of making fresh homemade food. No one ever warned me when I was young that I would literally be doing dishes for the rest of my life! But cheers to making our own food and having the ability to do so!

This outfit looks great on you! A little bit of a departure with the fitted style jumpsuit.I love the column of black showcasing the
ruana.I have a very few jumpsuits, but the bathroom dilemma keeps them in my closet most of the time! Growing boys really need a lot of fuel. I can see why you spend a lot of time doing dishes! Hope you have a lovely weekend and thanks for hosting the Link up!

Di, thanks so much! I’m finding that different layering techniques are really helping with my styling of jumpsuits. But then those top layers require even more effort when going to the bathroom. You have to completely disrobe and redress yourself every time! LOL I hope your weekend is beautiful, my friend!

You look beautiful! I love all your pairings. I own a Black sleevless jumpsuit that I love. Sometimes I wear high and Kitten heels with it. Sometimes I’ll wear a nice tee with it to get different looks. Thanks for hosting sweetie and I hope everyone here have a great weekend!

What a cool look! I’ve said it before, but those hats…… they look absolutely smashing on you! Had to laugh at your,, eating,, job! That’s puberty for you isn’t it! I know you do it with love.

  • Gail Is This Mutton

Been a while since I had a jumpsuit! The problem is finding one that fits a petite short waisted long legged gal! Yours looks great and lives up to its super groovy description. Thanks for linking.

Thanks so much, Gail! It is really difficult to find the right fit in a jumpsuit. Most of them seem to be made for one body type…not my body type. But I’m really pleased with the few I did find. Have a lovely week ahead, my friend.
