Adventures in Thrifting Part 29: The Best Jumpsuit Ever & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #817

Oh my gosh, you guys, this might be my best thrift store clothing find ever!
I don’t even really like jumpsuits that much. They are often unflattering and I find them to be a huge hassle when going to the bathroom. But any jumpsuit negatives are far outweighed by the positively adorable floral print.
I saw it hanging on the dress rail and the print immediately caught my attention. When I realized it was a jumpsuit, I almost left it on the rack. But something in my soul nagged me to try it on anyway. It doesn’t have a brand label but it does have a tiny size tag indicating that it’s a 3X. I don’t really adhere to size tags these days, focusing instead on the actual visual size of the garment. With clothes sizes being so inconsistent across brands and styles, my closet contains pieces from size small all the way up to 6X.
So into the fitting room it went. When I tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked it. The 3X fit a little big but not by much. And if I’m going to wear a jumpsuit, I do prefer a baggier style anyway.

On the same thrifting adventure but in a different thrift store, I also found this adorable ivory crocheted vest. The thrift store was selling it as a set with matching shorts, but the sizes were different. The brand is A New Day from Target and was clearly originally sold as separates. The vest is a large and the shorts were a medium which did not fit me. Well, they fit, meaning I got them onto my body, but they looked terrible! I bought the set just for the vest and passed the cute shorts onto my friend Viky.
I added a turquoise vee neck tee shirt (retail purchase from a few years ago), my new white Furkenstocks, my rainbow Panama hat, big white circle thrift store earrings, and a pile of preloved beaded necklaces in blues and white.
This colorful outfit made me feel so cheerful. I received lots of joyful compliments as I went about my day wearing this burst of floral fun. My favorite of the day was from a gentleman in the grocery store who stopped me in the bread aisle and emphatically declared, “That is the best summer outfit I have ever seen!” I agree, very nice grocery store man!

Jeff and I were cracking up at the placement of some of the flowers, in particular the ones on the butt and the crotch. Jeff started calling this garment the vagina flower jumpsuit. Fetching name, isn’t it?
Although I still found going to the bathroom very tedious, the cuteness factor far outweighs any jumpsuit negatives. Give me the right jumpsuit and I am actually a jumpsuit girl! In fact, I bought two more thrifted jumpsuits recently that I will share soon.
Like my mother always said, “If you like it on the hanger, try it on. There’s no harm or commitment in that and you never know what’ll happen.” Well, mom, you were right and now I have this ridiculously spectacular jumpsuit in my wardrobe arsenal!

That’s a really cute jumpsuit. I only owned one in my whole life and I hated it (I had been “convinced” to take it).
The vest is the perfect addition!

Thanks so much, Cat! I have hated every jumpsuit and romper I ever tried before this! But recently I found three really cute jumpsuits that fit nicely and I love wearing them now. Going to the bathroom is a hassle but I’m willing to deal with that occasionally!

That name, lol. I have to get used to the colours as it is so different then what you usually wear. But it’s fun and summery!

Shelbee, what an incredible thrift find! I probably would have walked right past a jumpsuit too, but I’m so glad you gave this one a chance because it fits you beautifully. The floral print is gorgeous, and I love how you styled it with the boots and hat for that fun boho vibe. You always have such a great eye for seeing the potential in thrifted pieces.

Laura, thank you so very much! My thrifty eye really does lead me to some very special things. LOL I generally scan the racks for unique prints, fabrics, and silhouettes that catch my attention. And then I just let my imagination run wild!

That is a fun jumpsuit! The print is really cute. And I love how you styled it. I think I have gotten rid of all of my jumpsuit but I did thrift one romper this year and have worn it a couple of times.

Thanks, Mireille! I got rid of all of my rompers a while back and kept one jumpsuit. Now I have four jumpsuits and I’m really loving them all! I don’t really like shorts so rompers likely won’t make their way back into my wardrobe. But these oversized loose fitting jumpsuits I can get on board with!
