Adventures in Thrifting Part 31: The Third and Final (For Now) Jumpsuit & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #819
The past two Fridays, I have shared newly thrifted jumpsuits so I wanted to finish the weekly series with the third and final (for now) preloved jumpsuit. The first was an oversized white jumpsuit with a groovy floral pattern and the second was a cropped length solid black jumpsuit. And now this one…which I’ve named the cow-giraffe print jumpsuit.
I know I had referred to the groovy floral print one as “the best jumpsuit ever” but this cow-giraffe print may have inched into the lead for my favorite. I love the neutral colors for a more earthy vibe and I find the unique abstract pattern to be rather eye-catching. So into my thrift shop cart it went!
To be clear, I have long despised jumpsuits for various reasons. The two main reasons for my hatred of this one piece garment are the issue of going to the bathroom and the probability of the dreadful front wedgie.
The threat of the twedgie can be mostly eliminated if the jumpsuit is oversized and baggy. When I first tried on this jumpsuit, it was a little short in the crotch area. However, I was able to easily resolve the problem by moving the buttons on the straps about 1 inch, which gave me just enough length in the torso to prevent it from riding up into my nether region.
The bathroom problem will always remain an issue. But as long as the cuteness factor outweighs the tedium of having to fully disrobe for the toilet, then I’ll probably keep buying the fun jumpsuits I find during my thrifting adventures.
On the same thrifting adventure that I found this cow-giraffe jumpsuit, I also discovered this gorgeous white gauzy duster. It’s all trimmed with white tassel fringe and has a gorgeous black embroidered placket down the front. The colors in the embroidered trim coordinated perfectly with the cow-giraffe print, almost as if they were meant to be worn together. When the thrift shop gods put a match made in heaven right in front of me, who I am to ignore such serendipity? I brought both pieces home with every intention of wearing them together.
The sides of the jumpsuit are cut really low so an under layer was needed to keep my bra concealed. I suppose if you’re bold enough and it’s hot enough, you could get away with wearing just a bralette or sports bra underneath. But I’m a bit too modest and insecure for that so I added a black cropped tee shirt beneath the jumpsuit. Then I topped it off, of course, with the newly thrifted white gauze duster.
For my accessories, I stuck with the same neutral earthy color palette of black, white, and tan but I also threw in lots of rusty oranges. I added my black cowgirl hat, my white Furkenstocks, and a massive necklace pile incorporating my very old Michal Golan choker necklace, my Shelbee mala beads, and some other thrifted necklaces including my wooden giraffe necklace.
These fabulous bohemian earrings are also newly thrifted. The macrame style, the giant size, and the rich rusty color all spoke to my boho soul. And for the very low price of $1, I had to bring them home. They are also super lightweight for such large earrings and that is a huge plus!
For a lifelong opposer of the jumpsuit, I think I may have switched to the side of fandom. But I have never given up the right to change my mind, so change my mind I did!
Are there any fashion trends that you once hated but now embrace? Or maybe vice versa. Perhaps there are styles that you once loved but now despise? Fashion is as fickle as we are so go ahead and switch it up if you want to. Nobody really cares what you wear anyway. Or at least they shouldn’t because it’s none of their business. Go ahead and dress as you like but always remember that a smile is the very best accessory anyone can wear!

Well, first off, let me just say I, too, hate the twedgie! Yes, it even happens to those of us who are vertically challenged. What may be worse, though, is the implied twedgie. That happens when it LOOKS like your nether regions have gobbled up your attire when, in actuality, it’s very baggy there and just gives the appearance.
But, to this cow giraffe jumpsuit? I think I say this more often than not, but this may be my favorite look ever! You were right not to argue with the thrifting gods because these two pieces were meant to be together! One picks up what the other left behind. You look like you’re about 25 with not a care in the world (though I know you don’t care about age). You look fresh, fun, and just downright joyful! Put everything together, and you are simply stunning in this oh so neutral outfit. Love it, my beautiful friend!

With age comes great wisdom! But it’s definitely nice to read that I look 25 sometimes. Especially since my youngest child is always calling me an Unc! (Which apparently is the teen lingo for an old person. Hahahahaha) He likes to point out how gray my hair is and he says that the way I use technology physically causes him pain! I have been wearing a lot more oversized and flowy dresses lately. For someone who usually like things more fitted at least one part of me, I have been surprised I enjoy wearing things that are not always the most flattering. I just thrifted an XL gingham shirt that really doesn’t look that big on me. It is nice and airy! Glad you were able to move the buttons on your jumpsuit. Thanks, Mireille! I’ve been embracing the flowier things these days, too. Actually, the only truly fitted clothing that I even find comfortable is leggings! LOL Anything else feels too confining and uncomfortable. I’ve also recently added a few fitted vests to my wardrobe. They don’t feel too snug but they can effectively taper in a looser fitting garment and give it a more flattering shape. I’ll be over to check out your dress over pants outfits soon!
