February Decor & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #793
As I mentioned last Friday, we have been experiencing record-breaking cold temperatures as low as -48˚F (-44.4˚C) and it is still snowing nearly every day. Even when my weather app indicates no snow in the forecast, I look out the window and, sure enough, it’s snowing. As my kids say, “The snow is great until Christmas. After Christmas, it’s just annoying.” Honestly, the only nice thing about new snow this time of year is that it covers all the dirty snow banks with a fresh coat of pristine white. But then I start moving the snow off the sidewalks and driveway and it is all black and nasty again. Spring…

My Winter Workout Routine: The Snow Shovel Shuffle & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #792
My winter workout routine. This is it, right here. Just me and my shovel named Sunshine doing the snow shovel shuffle. I have done it almost every morning this month and I can feel it in every muscle. Some days, I have shoveled 3-4 times though the course of the day just keep up with it. When the snow piles get too high to toss the snow on top, that’s when the snow shovel shuffle kicks in. Squat, scoop, stand, and shuffle the snow one shovel full at a time to a different location. I will never understand why we use the term “snow removal” when there is no removing.…

Happy A-Day to Us & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #791
Today is our wedding anniversary. 16 years of love and laughter since we said I do. Forever is a really long time but we committed to it and there’s no turning back now! We had breakfast plans at our favorite diner today but the weather may be preventing it. Plus premenopausal PMS is really kicking my butt this week and making me not want to eat very much. I suppose we will be celebrating by moving snow off the driveway instead! But that’s okay as long as we are doing it together. The weather has been hindering my ability to take photographs all month long so I haven’t had much…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 21: Gray Hooded Cardigan & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #790
I wore this outfit a few weeks ago to run some errands. I had no intention of even photographing it as I literally just threw it on to go shopping with my husband. I decided to share it only after a very kind man in Best Buy enthusiastically complimented my “whole look.” Since it features a few thrifted pieces, I decided to share another Adventures in Thrifting post. The last thrifting adventure that I shared was all the way back in August so it was time to highlight some more of my favorite preloved wardrobe finds. The focal piece is this amazing long gray hooded open front sweater that I…

Some of My Favorite Christmas Gifts & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #789
Now that the holiday chaos has settled and the children have returned to school, it is time for me to get back to regular life. No more sitting around in my pajamas, makeup free with messy hair, until lunchtime. I must resume the stay-at-home mom duties that keep me busy for 16-18 hours a day and leave me exhausted before the sun goes down. During the holiday break, I didn’t do much. In fact, I barely left my house except for a few times for various appointments as well as a family movie outing to see Avatar: Fire and Ash, which, by the way, is my least favorite of the…

Happy Holidays & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #787
I wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday season! I hope these next few weeks are filled with many blessings for you all. May peace, joy, love, and happiness reign as we say farewell to 2025 and welcome in the new year. I am going to take a little blogging break for the holidays just because I feel like it. So I will leave the link party open until my return on January 2, 2026. I appreciate all of you who participate in my style challenges as well as those of you who just stop by to see what’s going on. Keep sharing the love and spreading kindness wherever…

Styling My New Work Boots & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #786
I know that I have mentioned previously how much I enjoy splitting wood for my fireplace. Ever since getting our fireplace redone and up to code, the wood chores have become my favorite out of all of my household obligations. From stacking to splitting to fireplace prep and clean up, I truly enjoy every bit of it. I think it makes me feel a little closer to nature. It also makes me feel a little closer to my retirement goals of living in an isolated, rural place where I can chop my wood at any time of day instead of being bound by city noise ordinances that prohibit the sound…

Holiday Party Outfit & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #785
Tonight is Jeff’s annual company holiday party. He began working for a local HVAC company upon retirement from the Army nearly five years ago and he has been happier than I have ever known him to be. He absolutely loves his job and his job loves him as evidenced by the stellar way that he is treated by his employer and the respect he has garnered from his fellow employees. Back in 2016, I watched an episode of The Voice where Jennifer Hudson was the guest mentor. The contestants had asked her for advice that they could take with them into their music careers and her response has stuck with…

A Very Raggy Christmas & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #784
I hope all of my American friends had a lovely Thanksgiving filled with delicious food, wonderful company, and joyful blessings. But now that it is over, we are immediately in the Christmas season. I have been working on my holiday mantle displays for a few weeks with a focus on upcycling, thrifting, and using things I already had on hand. First I replaced the scarf valances with red plaid blanket scarves for a cozy festive feel. I have a tremendous amount of scarves of all sorts, styles, shapes, lengths, and fabrics. There are so many that I can’t possibly wear them all but they are too pretty for me to…
