Post-Vacation Recovery Mode & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #821
We just returned from our family road trip on Wednesday night and I’m in post-vacation recovery mode. I wanted to share all the details of our trip today but I just haven’t gotten around to sorting through all the photos in my camera roll.
We drove 3,838 miles through 12 different states from northern New York to the Florida panhandle and back again. We were gone for 10 days and 9 nights, had wonderful reunions with 6 different friends along the way, and I took 704 photos.
Yesterday was our first full day at home and I mowed 2 lawns, did 5 loads of laundry, washed some muddy shoes, and replaced a lamp that the cats broke while we were away. Jeff did the grocery shopping, ran my 6 bags of unwanted clothing and shoes to a donation bin, took Ralph to his football gear pick up, then took Ralph to get new glasses after his broke throwing a football around.
The rest of this weekend will be spent photographing outfits for two separate brand collaborations and two different style challenges, finishing school shopping for the boys, and catching up on what feels like a million little things that I’ve neglected this summer.
I should be back to my regular schedule in a week or two. Until then, enjoy a link party and your weekend!

Welcome home! It sounds like you had the best trip, ever! I saw some photos on Facebook, and y’all looked happy! The coming home part is never fun…laundry, putting things away…but it’s still worth it to go somewhere! Thanks for the link party!

Thanks so much, Marsha! We really did have a wonderful trip. The weather cooperated, the traffic mostly cooperated, we saw old friends all along the way. I don’t think it could have really been any better than it was!

Oh Shelbee I feel for you. Isn’t there so much to do and I don’t have young kids. Thanks so much for the feature. What a lovely surprise.
Have a great week. In the midst of wedding prep for next weekend. Xx Jacqui

Shelbee, that sounds like a wonderful north to south vacation trip! What a joy it must have been to stop along the route to see friends. Maybe you need another vacation now to recover from the whirlwind of things to do when you arrived back home! Take care, and hope you can have a more relaxing weekend. Also, thanks so much for hosting the link up!

Thanks so much, Di! It really was the most amazing trip. Once I’m all caught up on things, there will be more things! Hahahahaha. We are planning our next trip up through the New England states.

Glad you enjoyed your road trip! Sounds like a busy day and a busy coming up week. Enjoy the transition. School has started here (already 2 weeks) and my oldest just went back to college.

I can relate to the idea of needing a little recovery time after a vacation. I like how you connect that slower transition back to everyday life with the simple reminder to spread kindness. The personal touch makes the post feel genuine, and it is a nice perspective on easing back into a normal routine without rushing the process.

Thanks so much, Asim! I really appreciate that. Now that summer is coming to an end, it’s time for the chaos of the school year to begin!

I know your pain. I just returned home from a vacation myself. There is so much to do when you get home, especially if you have a garden like me. I couldn’t believe how many red tomatoes I had!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Amy! My lawn was overgrown but the deer seemed to have had a feast on my rose bushes while we were gone! I had 7 little buds just starting to bloom the day we left. When we got home, there was just one rose left! Will you be making some delicious tomato sauce with all of your tomatoes?

Wow, 3,838 miles through 12 states in 10 days is quite the adventure! It sounds like you packed in so many wonderful visits and memories along the way. I totally understand needing a vacation from your vacation after coming home to all that laundry and catching up! Can’t wait to hear more about the trip!

Thanks so much, Laura! It was a wonderful adventure! I’m so glad that we did it. My boys needed to see some more of our country. It was their first time seeing the ocean, too! I’m still sorting through photos but I plan to have them all ready to share by Friday. Have a great week ahead, my friend!

We did a similar trip from PA back in 2016 when my oldest was looking at colleges. It was fun but so exhausting and they were over each other by the end. I have gotten to the point now where I am ready for Fall weather and Fall decorations and crisp nights. Have a great week!

Thanks, Jennifer! It was such a great trip but definitely exhausting. The boys did do more bickering than I prefer but they weren’t too bad! Fall is in the air, I can smell it coming!
