Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Sandals
I cannot believe the calendar has flipped to July already. Time sure does fly…whether you’re having fun or not! At least I can say that I’m having fun. Won’t you join us for another edition of Good Buys and Good-Byes. Since we are now in the heart and heat of summertime, we are talking about the quintessential summer footwear, Sandals! And I just realized that we featured sandals last June as well. Oops! I suppose after 8 years of doing this series, we are bound to repeat some things. Even if you shared your sandals with us last summer, please do share them again! Any sandals will do…flat ones, heeled…

Walmart Pajama Style Take 2: Same Print, Different Nightgown
Yesterday, I shared my first Walmart pajama style outfit featuring a muumuu layered over a sleeveless nightgown. The muumuu is the same print as this long slip style nightgown. I bought these nighties on clearance at the end of last summer and only got to wear this one once before it got too cold. Initially, I was only going to buy this sleeveless nightgown but I loved the print and the price (both were $7) so much that I ended up grabbing the muumuu, too. I also bought this same nightie in black with a giant leafy print in white, which I will share soon. Sleeveless slip style dresses and…

Walmart Pajama Style
As an environmentally conscientious person, I try to avoid indulging myself with inexpensive fast fashion brands…unless, of course, I have thrifted them. However, I am a human with all sorts of cravings and desires that are sometimes difficult to resist. I mentioned in a previous post that I have been doing most of my grocery shopping at Walmart lately. The early morning hours have proven to be the best time for a slow browse through the abundant aisles of that giant store. Sometimes I enjoy a jaunt through the home goods section, other times it’s clothing and accessories for my kids, my husband, or myself. I recently picked up sandals…

Bohemian Fruit Bowl
I love a refreshing combination of citrus colors. Think lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines. Put those together in a vibrant burst of yellow, orange, and green and you, too, can look like a bohemian fruit bowl! I scored this flaming orange tie dyed dress on a recent thrifting adventure and it made me so happy. I have lost count of how many dresses similar to this one I have found in thrift stores. Although they’re not the most flattering silhouette for my body, I still can’t resist scooping them up whenever I spot them in secondhand shops. These dresses are like the quintessential boho summer dress…lightweight, loose, flowy, and…

Feeling Like Rainbow Brite
Recently, I have been a little bit obsessed with lightweight gauzy trousers for the warm weather season. Apparently, this style is currently trending because I am seeing them everywhere in retail stores, online shops, and thrift stores. And I am having a difficult time resisting them! Some are meant to be worn as regular daytime clothing while others are classified as pajama pants, loungewear, beach pants, or swim suit covers. But their classification doesn’t really matter…pants are pants and I will wear them whenever I want and for whatever purpose I please…lounging, sleeping, walking, hanging, choring, erranding, going out, or staying in. Over the past few weeks, I have been…

There is a Certain Beauty in Death
Back in 2019, I started writing articles and publishing them on Medium. It was a great way to gain additional exposure for my writing, make some passive income, and I enjoyed sharing on that platform…for a few years. Some of the articles were previously shared on my blog before I published them on Medium but some of the topics didn’t seem appropriate for my blog space so they have remained only on Medium. However, I haven’t published anything on that platform since 2022 so I am in the process of moving some of those original articles to my blog. I no longer think they are inappropriate because my blog actually…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 26: Pink Tribal Print Kimono & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #812
Welcome to another edition of Adventures in Thrifting, where I highlight and style a thrifted or preloved item that made its way into my wardrobe. I have been obsessed with long flowy robe-like garments for as long as I can remember. In the very early 2000s, I purchased two gorgeous robes from a small high end boutique in Montclair, New Jersey. I can’t remember the name of the shop anymore but I do remember very vividly the two robes I bought there. Both were floor length garments with long sleeves made from sheer fabrics. One was black with a tan tribal pattern and the other was white with a colorful butterfly…

Mori Girl Style
Back in 2006, Mori Girl (or Mori Kei) style emerged as a fashion aesthetic. It was started by a Japanese influencer named Choco when one of her friends commented that her outfit looked like she lived among the creatures of the forest. The term Mori Girl translates literally to forest girl and features an aesthetic that was designed to make you look like you just stepped out of a magical woodland environment. The fashion trend boomed for about a decade but never really gained much traction outside of Japan. Many designers that focused on this aesthetic as well as the original Mori Girl blogs started to fade out around 2017,…
