Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Maxi Dresses
July is gone as fast as it came and now it’s time for August’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Won’t you join us for another edition of Good Buys and Good-Byes. For this month, we have decided to feature one of my favorite summer time garments…Maxi Dresses! According to the Wikipedia page on Dresses, the term maxi dress has been in use since the 1960s in reference to ankle length dresses that are usually informal. But a formal ankle length dress would also be considered a maxi except I think we generally call long formal dresses gowns. However, it appears that a gown can be anywhere from knee to ankle length. Let’s not get hung up…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 30: Another Jumpsuit & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #818
I had planned to share this outfit on Wednesday, but the days completely got away from me. That seems to be my story every day this summer. My kids have kept me so busy that I rarely have an hour that isn’t interrupted by someone wanting to eat, someone needing a ride somewhere, someone wanting to eat, someone needing to be picked up, someone wanting to eat, laundry, dishes, someone wanting to eat, mowing the lawn, and food prepping because someone always wants to eat. Some days I want to scream into the kitchen sink that I simply cannot clean another pot, pan, spoon, fork, bowl, or plate. Yet, the…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 29: The Best Jumpsuit Ever & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #817
Oh my gosh, you guys, this might be my best thrift store clothing find ever! I don’t even really like jumpsuits that much. They are often unflattering and I find them to be a huge hassle when going to the bathroom. But any jumpsuit negatives are far outweighed by the positively adorable floral print. I saw it hanging on the dress rail and the print immediately caught my attention. When I realized it was a jumpsuit, I almost left it on the rack. But something in my soul nagged me to try it on anyway. It doesn’t have a brand label but it does have a tiny size tag indicating…

What I Wore on Graduation Day
I’m sharing this outfit about 3 weeks after I wore it to our local high school graduation. Although my kids are still a few years away from this milestone event, they have friends who graduated this year. And Jeff and I have friends with children who also graduated this year. Living in a small community, you get to know kids of all ages and you want to support them in their successes as they transition from childhood into adulthood. Depending on the weather forecast for graduation day, the ceremony is held either outdoors on the football field or indoors in the high school auditorium. If it’s indoors, I believe each…

The Thrifty Six Celebrate Summer Birthdays
Emma challenged our Thrifty Six group this month with Summer Birthday Party Outfits! Summer is such a great time to have a birthday or any other type of party. It makes hosting celebrations so much easier when outdoor space and activities are available. Of course, one must always prepare for rain, especially where I live. While we generally experience very mild summers, passing rain showers are a regular threat to any type of planned outdoor activities. My immediate family doesn’t have any summer birthdays. In fact, all four of our birthdays happen in spring. When we lived in Pennsylvania, I would have declared spring as the best season for a…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 28: Mint and Brown Floral Kimono & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #816
Lately, I have been going on a lot of thrifting adventures. I definitely don’t need any more clothes in my closet, but sometimes I get bored and enjoy a little hunt in the thrift store. Plus, most of my favorite retailers no longer have physical stores in my area and I really don’t enjoy online shopping as much as in-person shopping. I like to try on clothing and touch and feel the fabrics before purchasing. And I really hate returning things. I don’t know why but the whole process of returning items to stores makes me really uncomfortable. It always has. So I try to avoid it if possible. Most…

Black and White Pajama Outfit Restyled
Last week, I shared how I transitioned my Bridgerton Brunch outfit to a summer boho look with a few simple changes to my accessories. This week, I wanted to share another easy outfit restyle featuring the black and white nightgown that I shared with you all on Tuesday. This restyle was really quick and easy. We were going out to dinner the day I wore the first styling and it was getting cooler as the evening hours approached. Plus air conditioning in restaurants often makes me too cold when I’m wearing my lightweight summer layers. So I decided to add this oversized open knit black and white sweater. I have…
