Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Sheer
Spring weather has been teasing me lately with a few gorgeous days sprinkled in between all the cold, dreary rain. It seems like the perfect season for showcasing Sheer things. You may be wondering why the cold rainy spring weather is the perfect time for sheer things. Well, I guess you have to keep on wondering because I don’t have any idea. I merely said that because I didn’t know what else to write. Frankly, it is still too cold for me to wear sheer, but I have always loved the sassiness of sheer garments. The kind that allow you to tastefully show off your pretty underthings. I don’t understand…

Date Night with the Dead & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #649
Jeff and I had a long overdue date night two weeks ago when the in-laws were here to visit for Easter and Spring Break. We took advantage of the overnight childcare and headed off to Funk ’n Waffles in Syracuse for their weekly Dead Night. We learned of this Monday night ritual when we went to see our dear friends of Fireside Collective perform at this venue a few months ago. It’s a really tiny, dark, and dingy bar that is attached to a waffle eatery with just a big black curtain separating the two sides. You are welcome to grab some waffles and eat them in the bar area…

SIA Gallery of Style | Gypsy Vardos by Various Wagon Artists
Y’all know how I love putting together the Gallery of Style for Style Imitating Art. Although it is a very small gallery this time, the outfits that resulted all made me squeal with delight. And I need some delight this week for it started out like a stinky fish. Our beloved bunny George died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday morning. We are all a little shaken and a lot sad. Rest in peace, El Gorgé (that was the children’s favorite nickname for George), you are missed. Okay, sad stuff done. Well, not really because I suspect I am going to be sad for a while. But enough of it here,…

The Magnificent 8 are Blazing Through Spring
Oh my goodness, blazing through spring, indeed! When this group of eight magnificent ladies chose our quarterly style theme, we had enthusiastically settled on the punny title of Blazing Into Spring. But as I sat down to write this post, it occurred to me that we are already very much into spring at this point, with a third of the season already in the past. I think it may have still been winter when we chose our preposition. So I changed my preposition. Because we all have the right to whichever prepositions suit us! What better thing to wear for a style challenge called Blazing Through Spring than, yep, you…

If Yesterday Were a Fish…& #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #648
If yesterday were a fish, I would have definitely thrown it right back into the waters from whence it came. Not because I felt bad for the fish. Rather because the fish was super stinky. Not the kind of fish anyone would want to keep. It was one of those days that began in a melancholic way from recently received sad news. And then it seemed to spiral from there. Nothing terrible. Just a series of tiny little annoyances all throughout the day. The sad news delayed my post for yesterday’s Your Own Twist All Zipped Up post. When I finally sat down in my fabulous new living room to…

All Zipped Up & Your Own Twist Link Up #55
April 29 is National Zipper Day, a day to celebrate the humble and extensively useful zipper. A thing that I suspect most of us take for granted. I do believe that this most fantastic of fasteners is one of my favorites. It far surpasses other types of fasteners when it comes to ease, finger friendliness, and versatility in function. We use zippers on so many things…clothing, shoes, purses, backpacks, duffle bags, suitcases, sleeping bags, and tents. Better than buttons and brooches, less complicated than buckles and hooks, superior to snaps and safety pins, and quieter than velcro, zippers are the most preferred type of fastener for people of all ages.…

The Thrifty Six: Inspired by On Screen Style Icons
My frugal friends and I are back with the next episode of our Thrifty Six adventures. Grace has chosen the theme for this month’s challenge…On Screen Style Icons…which can be taken in a variety of different ways depending on your interpretation of “on screen”, “style”, and “icon”. First of all, style is totally and completely subjective. Second, who we view as an icon (a person worthy of great respect) is also wholly subjective. And finally, which screen are we talking about? A television screen, a movie screen, or the screen of a mobile device? When you throw all that into the pool of influences, you suddenly have a lot of…
