Adventures in Thrifting Part 25: White Floral Dress & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #804
Way back in September 2020, a group of five other bloggers and myself kicked off our Thrifty Six group in an effort to draw attention to the environmental impacts of the fashion industry and share ways to decrease that impact by styling fabulous outfits using preloved, secondhand, or thrifted wardrobe pieces. A few days later, I began this fun little Adventures in Thrifting series to highlight additional preloved pieces in my closet. In 2020, I estimated that approximately 30% of my wardrobe consisted of secondhand items found on resale sites, in thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales, or simply handed down to me from someone else. Over the last six…

Style Imitating Art | Paper Sculptures by Karen Hawkins
This week’s Style Imitating Art challenge has inspired not one, but two outfits! Actually, it inspired a third outfit but I was so sick with a stomach bug that I could barely photograph the two featured here. Despite my illness, I went ahead with two outfits because it required just a quick change of accessories to create two totally different looks. And then I was forced into bed for a few days which is why I am a day late with this post. I am still struggling with my energy level but I am slowly coming back to myself. About Style Imitating Art Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar…

The Gabriela Duster by Soft Surroundings & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #802
I have a few confessions. I am a shopaholic. I love clothing and accessories. I am a maximalist when it comes to personal style. And I am susceptible to advertisements featuring beautiful apparel…especially when said apparel is on sale. I honestly can’t remember where I first saw the ads for Soft Surroundings but I suspect it was on some social media platform. Social media seems to be overrun by ads these days. I generally find this overabundance of advertisements rather annoying. And then an ad for this gorgeous Gabriela Duster in a Peacock Paisley print popped into my life. The duster length, the mixed prints, and the stunning color palette…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 24: Pink Floral Robe & What I Actually Wore for Easter
It’s been a few weeks since I shared my last Adventures in Thrifting post featuring a preloved purple robe and a few days since I shared my purple monochromatic Easter outfit for winter weather. So I wanted to now share the purple and pink outfit that I actually wore for Easter. Sunday’s weather was warmer and rainy which allowed me to ditch the heavy winter fabrics in favor of something lighter weight and more springlike. I knew I wanted to wear something purple to church since the color itself is symbolic of Jesus’s divinity, the very thing we celebrate on Easter. So I started with this deep plum colored sundress.…

An Easter Outfit for Winter Weather & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #801
Easter is supposed to bring images of spring, prompting us to dress accordingly in our favorite warm weather apparel in soft pastels or bright joyful colors. But what do you do when it’s still winter on Easter? Well, obviously, you make some wardrobe adjustments. The most common colors used in Easter celebrations are purple, white, gold, and pastels. Since pastels are generally reserved for warm weather clothes, I leaned into bright, bold purples for my winter Easter outfit. Traditionally, the color purple has been associated with royalty and power, but in the context of the Easter holiday, it symbolizes the divinity of Jesus. The color also represents penance which is…

Songful Style Link Party #47: “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Just like last month’s Songful Style challenge, this one took me way out of my comfort zone as well. I freaking hate jeans particularly on my body, but I wore them anyway because it seemed appropriate for this challenge. Just like last month. And I still hate jeans. I really should just purge them from my closet. But I probably won’t. Ha. About Songful Style Songful Style is a style challenge series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, Marsha of Marsha in the Middle, and Suzy of Suzy Turner, The Grey Brunette. Each month we will share a song with the lyrics and video and we invite you to use whatever aspect…

Big Blanket Love & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #800
If you recall, I shared some of my favorite Christmas gifts back in January including this Big Blanket Premier Plush™ Wrap in Moss. Since this wrap is considered loungewear, I have been wearing it primarily at home while lounging. It hadn’t immediately occurred to me that I can wear it outside of the house as a cozy topper for cold weather. Once I remembered that I am not generally a person who adheres strictly to labels, I decided I needed to create an outside outfit with my Big Blanket as the focal point. Before I get to the outfit, let me tell you some stuff about this amazing Big Blanket…

A Boho Twist on FJackets Purple Leather Coat & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #799
Recently, I was invited by FJackets to review a leather coat of my choice and I was more than happy to accept the invitation. I received this jacket in exchange for my honest opinion of the product. However, to ensure authenticity of my review, I have not been compensated in any other way. FJackets began in 2013 as a small startup focused on creating high-quality leather jackets for U.S. customers. By 2017, they had expanded their inventory to include leather bags, pants, and wallets. In 2021, FJackets began offering their products internationally and added belts, leather shorts, varsity jackets, wool coats, T-shirts, and even vegan jackets to their product line,…
