About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag Salazar, Shelbee, and Marsha on Instagram or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Sally used light blue and dark green to represent the background. Then she introduced the cow with her black and white plaid vest and accessories. To finish her outfit, Sally quickly made the cutest little pair of cow charm earrings. They are so stinking adorable! Sally wins!
Marsha of Marsha on the Middle
Marsha in the Middle
Marsha has very appropriately named her outfit “Brown Cow Stunning”. Drawing from a segment of RuPaul’s Drag Race when Monique Heart mistook an animal print for something else, Marsha chose a brown and ivory zebra print cardigan to represent the cow, paired with a blue skirt to represent the sky, and a green slip to represent the grass. She finished her look with her favorite (and only) pair of Western boots. Aw, man, Marsha wins, too!

Like Hipgnosis, Salazar followed the instructions given by Pink Floyd, to create “something plain”, and she put together a simple but very clever outfit with the brown-white-blue-green colors of the photo. I love her blue shoes and ingenious interpretation. Salazar also wins!
And Me!
For me, it all began with the cow print bag. Then the green dress for the grass and the blue top for the sky. Although I did not see the episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race that inspired Marsha to wear zebra print, I chose random animals for my accessories with leopard earrings and an elephant necklace just because I thought Pink Floyd and Hipgnosis would appreciate such randomness. Meh. I guess I win, too. Why the heck not? We are all winners! Well done, ladies.
