Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Shades of Brown & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #672

October’s theme is all about Shades of Brown, a quintessential color for autumn along with rich reds, deep oranges, and golden yellows. We have already featured Red/Pink and Orange for this series but not yellow or brown. In fact, as far as color prompts go for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we have also covered Green, Black and White, Periwinkle and Purple, Easter Egg Colors, Barbiecore (Hot) Pink, and Gold. If there are any other colors (or prints, patterns, styles, etc.) that you would like to see as a focus for this series, please let us know. We have been hosting this series for a really long time and we are running out of ideas! You can see all the different themes we have covered since 2018 here.

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos for Shades of Brown will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

You may think brown is boring. But with well over 100 different shades of dirt, there really is a brown for everyone!

Brown is not an abundant color in my clothing wardrobe, but I still have lots and lots of brown shades in my accessories. As usual, let’s go digging in the archives to see what I have worn in Shades of Brown over the past 8 years! Hopefully, you will be inspired to join us with your favorite (or least favorite) things in Shades of Brown.

This is a big post because brown is a big color with a huge range of variety. It is a Big Book of Brown!

2023

This year, I have styled boots, hats, handmade ruanas, scarves, belts, dresses, and a lace sleeveless duster in shades of brown ranging from the lightest tan to the darkest chocolate.

2022

Last year, I wore my brown hues in coats, scarves, dresses, hats, boots, trousers, sweaters, and kimonos ranging from the palest beige to rich caramel shades.

2021

Shades of brown appeared in soft taupes and tawny camels in my 2021 wardrobe with a few occasions of dark mocha. Look for browns in leopard prints, snake prints, cow prints, Aztec prints, florals, plaids, and camouflage.

2020

In 2020, it seems like my footwear was dominated by shades of brown with a variety of different brownish hues popping up in my clothing (and Ralph‘s, too).

2019

Tans and camels appeared the most in my 2019 outfits with lots of leopard prints and brown footwear.

2018

I didn’t wear a lot of brown in 2018 with it appearing mostly in my accessories. But I did wear tan skinny jeans, a taupe floral dress, a dark brown sweater poncho, a camel vest, a brown polka dot dress, and a light tan trench coat.

2017

In 2017, I wore shades of brown in hats, footwear, dresses, jackets, sweaters, pants, kimonos, and tunics.

2016

There was not a lot of brown to be seen on my blog in 2016 except for a cardigan, boots, a dress, a poncho, a leather jacket, a kimono, and a backpack.

And then there is not much brown at all from 2015 except a few pieces that were already shared somewhere above. I hope all of these shades of brown have inspired you to join us this month.

You are invited to join us in October to share your favorite (or least favorite) items in Shades of Brown. You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of October to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight.
