The Thrifty Six Get Dressed Up for Winter Weddings
Jane chose this month’s thrifty theme with celebrations of love in mind! Since it is also the holiday season, all of these wedding inspired outfits could also be worn to festive Christmas parties or elegant New Year’s Eve events as well. ‘Tis the season to bring out your favorite fancy clothes and feel fabulous in the midst of the holiday craze and winter sickness season. Speaking of sickness season, Covid finally caught us. My little family of four has managed to avoid the virus for almost four years until two weeks ago. It caught Ralph first but we never tested him. He missed two days of school, a Thursday and…

It’s time for Marsha in the Middle‘s 10 on the 10th series. Except she only posed 9 questions, so this month’s post is 9 on the 10th instead! You can see the other silly Would You Rather questions with my answers for winter, spring, summer, and fall. After Marsha shares her questions, we are invited to share our answers in blog post form on the 10th of the month. Give the Gift of Music This Holiday Season & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #682
This holiday gift idea was inspired by my son and by my favorite bluegrass band, Fireside Collective. Just the other day, my 12 year old asked if we could update our free Spotify account to a premium account. He saw an ad offering premium for $4.99 a month for students. He figured he is a student and he gets an allowance so he could pay for it himself. Only to later discover that the student discounted rate is reserved for college students who attend accredited universities. So if you’re 12 and want premium, it is going to cost you $11.99 a month. Not wanting him to spend over 25% of…

Celebrating My Life in Color with Teddy Blake
The end of the year has a unique tendency to make me feel a bit more reflective and introspective. Particularly so this year since 2023 marks my final year as a 40-something. While I won’t officially reach that semicentennial milestone until May 30, 2024, I do plan to celebrate my golden birthday all year long. Because surviving half of century in this crazy world is something worthy of celebration. It’s kind of a big deal, y’all. I don’t know exactly how I am going to celebrate next year but I am starting right now with a mission of being unapologetically colorful, vibrant, and visible. And this stunning purple bag from…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Embroidery & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #681
December is the perfect month for extra adornments and attention to details so we have chosen Embroidery as our theme for 2023’s last Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Anything you own that is decorated with embroidered details will do. Keep in mind that appliqué is also a form of embroidery. I say that because I know I have some appliquéd things in my wardrobe. Also keep in mind that your submissions don’t even have to be garments that you wear. Maybe you have a curtain or a bedskirt or table runner that features embroidery that you want to showcase. Feel free to interpret these themes however they best suit you. We just…

Freckled Fright to Dotted Delight
I have another thrift store upcycle project to share with y’all. This was a super easy one that resulted in some serious sass. Maybe you remember this freckled fright that I shared back in August. I picked up this Zara dress for less than $10 on a thrifting adventure over the summer. I was drawn to the gorgeous shade of green and I am always a sucker for polka dots but the dress is two sizes too big. At first I thought I could belt it at the waist to make it fit better, but that put me squarely in the Land of Frump. As you can see from the…
