7 Unique Ways to Reward and Appreciate Yourself & Link Up On the Edge #265

Everyone likes a pat on the back every once in a while for all the hard work that we put into in life. However, it is not often that others will take the time to recognize our efforts. Most of us are too caught up in the focus on our own obligations that we inadvertently take for granted the hard work of others. So if you are in need of some appreciation and encouragement but can’t seem to find it anywhere, I have seven simple ways that you can reward yourself for a job well done.

1. Buy Yourself a New Phone

If you have set a big goal and worked really hard to achieve it, a big purchase is a great way to reward yourself for that accomplishment. Updating to a new cell phone is the perfect thing to congratulate yourself on a job well done. It will also serve as a reminder of your success which will continue to boost your confidence as your tackle your next goal. If you are considering an upgrade to the newest iPhone, be sure you know and understand how to set up a new iPhone so you don’t end up with a device that you are unable to operate.

2. Enjoy a Spa Day

Spa days are a fantastic way to rest and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. If you are feeling exhausted from a busy life, enjoying a day of pampering at a spa can make you feel like a new person. It is the perfect way to relax, unwind, and reward yourself for all your efforts.

To have a spa day at home, draw yourself a warm bath with lavender oil or other essential oils to assist with relaxation and put on your favorite calming music. I prefer tribal flute music for my personal pampering time. It makes it feel more like an actual spa.

In addition to lavender oil, essential oils such as eucalyptus also have significant benefits that aid in relaxation and clear breathing passages. Be sure to soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes, close your eyes, and take deep cleansing breathes while your daily stress melts away. When you are finished, dry off with a warm fresh fluffy towel and curl up in your softest most comfortable lounge wear to relax and enjoy the benefits of your spa day. Whilst you’re relaxing you could watch your favorite film or television series, pour yourself a drink, and even indulge in a cannabis product if it is legal in your area. If you are interested in the latter option, try looking for a store that sells a D8 vape near me if you want to experience an exciting new way of relaxation and self-care.

3. Take Yourself To Brunch

We accomplish lots of little things each day that sometimes want recognition. But it is easy to forget about all of these small achievements as we are constantly shifting our focus forward to the next goal or task on our list. So if you have had a particularly busy time recently either at work or handling family responsibilities at home, be sure to take some time out to celebrate and appreciate yourself. Treat yourself to brunch in the middle of a busy morning. It may just be coffee and a muffin, but when you can sit down and have someone bring it to you, I guarantee that makes it more enjoyable.

4. Plan a Mini-Vacation

A mini-vacation is a great way to reward yourself for your efforts and achievements. It also grants you the opportunity to take a short break from your daily obligations and find time to recharge your mind and body. You don’t need an extravagant getaway either to achieve the same result. You can simply plan a shopping weekend with friends or go on a quiet camping getaway. Really anything that you enjoy doing to relax and unwind is a great way to treat yourself.

5. Indulge in a Designer Purchase

Is there a designer handbag or shoes or jewelry that you have been wanting forever? These are the kinds of the purchases that are wonderful ways to reward yourself for your hard work. When you put in lots of effort to achieve your goals, you deserve to look stylish and classy.

If you have recently reached a landmark goal, this is a great time to reward yourself with something that you have always wanted but either couldn’t afford or just weren’t willing to splurge on. Designer pieces are unique, high-quality products that are made to last and look great for years. So when you choose a designer product, you are gifting yourself a timeless piece rather than something that will last for only a season.

6. Take a Robe Day

If you are looking for an easy way to reward yourself, you do not need to look any further than your favorite robe. Sometimes a wonderful way to reward ourselves is to just take a robe day. We used to call them sick days and then we started calling them mental health days, but now I think we should call them robe days…the days we want to spend curled up on the couch in our robes sipping our morning coffee or tea well into the afternoon. No rush, no pressure, a robe day is a day that is all about you relaxing and enjoying your own personal successes in whatever way you choose.

7. Bake Your Favorite Dessert

Sometimes we just need a little reward like a favorite treat. A favorite dessert or candy or ice cream is a nice way to show yourself some love and appreciation. Take some time out on a not so busy day to bake your favorite dessert. You can invite some family and friends to enjoy it with you as you celebrate your hard work. Or, if you are like me and pineapple upside down cake, you don’t have to share it with anyone. You can eat the whole darn thing yourself.

The key to appreciating yourself and your efforts in life is to take a moment to slow down, step back, and catch your breath. We all deserve a break and rewarding ourselves is a wonderful way to renew our energy for the next round of life’s challenges. The important thing is that you consciously take time to pamper yourself instead of waiting for someone else to grant you permission. If you decide to wait for others to show their appreciation, you might be waiting for a very long time. While it is great to be appreciated by others, it is also super important to appreciate yourself. So go on and start rewarding yourself with something today!

How do you like to pamper or reward yourself?

Bubble baths are such a great way to relax and pamper yourself, Jess! And then you can transition straight into a robe day. Haha. I love that you have been playing more music recently. I bet that is a such a great way to relax and unwind. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

I love that, Cheryl! It is such a great phrase, isn’t it? I am using it from now on as well. Robe days are the best! I hate feeling rushed as well which is partially to blame for my super early waking hours my entire life. I would rather get up an hour or two early to prevent myself from feeling rushed. I have trained my children to be the same way. Rushing just sets a bad pace for my day and so I do what I can to avoid that feeling. I don’t know how well I would handle a job that made me feel rushed all the time! Eek. But I am so glad that you indulge in lazy robe days to rejuvenate from the rush of the work week. Enjoy your weekend, my friend!

These are some great ideas! I love to reward myself with a self-care related gift to myself, such as a new essential oil, every now and again.

  • Darlene

OK, my friend, I love all of these ways to treat oneself, but the “robe day” and “bake a dessert” are really speaking to me!! It’s a cloudy drizzly day here and that sounds just right! Have an amazing weekend, my friend.

    xx Darlene

Aw, thanks, Darlene! I love robe days! And adding a freshly baked dessert to a robe day sounds like a fabulous idea! Although I also like donuts, whether they are homemade or not, for most any occasion. So give me donuts and my favorite robe and tell me to stay home all day and you won’t hear me complaining about a thing. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks so much, Rosemary! I like that idea of a “just because life is good reward”! I might indulge in those kinds of rewards more often than I should. Also donuts. I indulge in those as rewards more often than I should, too! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Being a work in progress is a great place to be, my friend! We can’t ask for more than to be continuously moving forward into better versions of ourselves. I was not very good at rewarding myself for a very long time either. I am only recently allowing myself to be indulgent and selfish sometimes. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Ahhh, I love that, Mica! And how wonderful that you had a great year work wise that yielded some fun new designer purchases! I do know how much you enjoy and appreciate your beautiful handbags! I indulge in dessert as my reward a lot! I should probably start saving my donut dollars for a fun designer purchase instead!

I just had a conversation about this with my mom in law as I have been dealing with some stuff/stress related to my mom’s health. I told her how I know my limits and about the different things I do to fill myself up so as not to give up/give out! Morning coffee (more of a treat than coffee, lol), reading books, my blog and shopping.

Aw, Mireille, I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with health issues with your mom. I have been through times like that so I am familiar with that kind of stress. I am glad that you have ways to relax and rejuvenate yourself so you can get through all the stressful stuff. I have been binge watching Netflix lately to keep my anxiety at a minimum. Sending you lots of positive energy and healing prayers for your mom.

I love these, Shelbee! I have started having a monthly facial, and while working wonders for my skin, I also feel so relaxed afterward. At first, I felt a lot of guilt because it’s money not necessarily needing to be spent. But, my husband is fine with it so I’m getting to be fine with it, too. Sometimes, we just have to own up to loving ourselves and be ok with it.

Thanks for the lively tips, my friend!

Aw, thanks so much, Marsha! I love that your monthly facials are serving a dual purpose of pampering your skin and your soul! I totally understand the guilt business, too. Why do we do that to ourselves? I always view getting my hair done at the salon as a big treat (but one that always makes me feel guilty) and I only go once a year or less! But I definitely treat myself in other ways! We do have to love ourselves more and be okay with getting pampered sometimes. I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend.

Nice idea to reward ourselves for achievements because employers or family rarely do! I took the day off yesterday and had a bit of a robe day. Working from home for 18 months, at a frantic pace, has been quite an achievement in itself x

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Gail! We do have to put ourselves first sometimes and we should! I don’t know how you stayed on pace for a frantic 18 months of working at home. That is definitely an achievement that deserves recognition and reward! I am glad that you took a robe day yesterday! I hope you enjoy your weekend, my friend.

Those are some good tips. I just like to walk around and find funky places to eat. Thanks for sharing these. I have never been to a spa and not into designer stuff. But I do like cool books.

Thanks for hosting and I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Patrick! I wish there were more funky places near me because I would love to do the same as you. Spas are a pretty cool experience but I prefer to do home spa days instead followed by robe days. I hope you are enjoying your weekend, my friend.
