Getting Back to Nature with 20 Extreme Outdoor Activities
I was never much of an outdoor person in my adulthood. As a child, I spent every minute of summer daylight and a good portion of the moonlit hours hanging out at the public pool. All day, every day, baking in the sun with my friends. Not a care in the world. Sitting in the grass wearing nothing but my swim suit. Eating all the nasty concession stand food without a worry about calories. A trip to the beach (the Jersey shore, folks) was a much anticipated annual vacation that had me exploring like a curious little marine adventurer. Tree houses and excursions into the woods were places where I…

Weekend in the Finger Lakes & Link Up On the Edge #207
This past weekend, we packed up the kids and my in-laws and headed to spend two nights in a cabin on an Amish farm in the Finger Lakes region of northern New York State. It was a peaceful, quiet getaway with much relaxation and down time to enjoy the late summer sunshine, unplug from the internet, catch up on some reading, and push all the cares of life away for just a few days. We stayed at Hoover Farm in Penn Yan, New York, which is an Amish farm that offers three different cabin rentals of various sizes. All three cabins are lined in a row on separate lots of…

Festival Style & Your Own Twist Link Up #23
It is that time again when I join Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart for our monthly collaboration, Your Own Twist. Our goal is to inspire you to think outside the box when it comes to personal style. Each month we choose either one common wardrobe piece or a creative theme and style it our own way with our own twist. We invite you to do the same! Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though we have totally different styles. It is always fun to see how we can interpret similar items or themes in our…

Monday Motivation: Love Your Body, It’s the Only One You’ve Got & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #184
Last June, my dear friend Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart asked me if I would share a post for her Monday Motivation Series about building body positivity. And since I am heading to the Finger Lakes for the weekend and have no other content planned, I figured I would share the same post here on my blog as well. Plus this post features the gold dress that I shared in this month’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and I have never shared the full photo shoot of this dress on my blog before. So here we go… Love Your Body, It’s the Only One You’ve Got It took me a long…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Metallics
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. This month’s theme is Metallics. So let’s get straight…

Restyling My Blossom-Inspired Outfit & Link Up On the Edge #206
“Real style is never right or wrong, it’s a matter of being yourself on purpose.” G. Bruce Boyer In my post on Tuesday, I shared an outfit that nostalgically reminded me of a favorite childhood sitcom character, Blossom Russo. Today I am sharing an easy restyle of that same outfit which is perfect for transitioning into back to school and fall styles. I know it is still super hot and humid in most places in the United States, but it is that time of year when we can at least begin to think about what kind of autumn fashions we might be wanting to try. And y’all know how much…

Inspired by Thirty Minus One: Foolproof Summer Outfit
Who doesn’t love any kind of foolproof outfit combination? As much as I enjoy concocting crazy ensembles with lots of layers and quirky details, there are plenty of days when I simply don’t have the energy or the desire to have to think all that creatively while choosing my outfit for the day. Fortunately, there are some combinations that always work, whether you want to add all the bells and whistles to the final result is up to you. But keeping it basic and minimalist will still have you looking stylish and completely put together in certain foolproof outfit combinations. One of these combinations is black and denim. Seriously, put…

Channeling Blossom & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #183
I am back from my blogging break and channeling some Blossom vibes with an outfit that I shot back on a really cool day in mid-June. It seemed like the perfect occasion to finally share this outfit as we start looking forward to the transitional fall weather and back to school styles. Although I imagine back to school styles are probably going to look a lot like loungewear this school year since many children and college students will be receiving remote education rather than learning in physical classrooms. Another reason to share this outfit is that I haven’t taken any outfit photos since July 20. I have gotten dressed but…

Whether you love them or hate them, we want to see them! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of…

A Kimono Story & Link Up On the Edge #205
If you visit here frequently, you may have noticed that I am a bit obsessed with kimonos. You also probably noticed that I often wear chopsticks in my hair. I have long been fascinated by Eastern cultures and their traditional styles as well as their cuisine. Yum. You don’t become a plus size fashion blogger by being bashful about food. I love food. And I really love to eat food not just look at pretty pictures of it. However, this post isn’t at all about food and I have no food pictures to share. Unless I go steal some from the internet. But I don’t have the time, patience, or…
