6 Ideas for a Feminine Bedroom Makeover

Yesterday, I shared my new hemp bedsheets, so today I am continuing with some ideas for a feminine bedroom makeover. Many people enjoy remodeling the rooms in their homes for a variety of different reasons. You may want to update old furniture and decor to be more modern or you may just have grown bored of your current decor and find a change refreshing.

Many women with a great sense of fashion also translate that style into their home decor. We not only express ourselves through how we dress, but the way we maintain and decorate our homes also speaks volumes about our personalities. If you have been considering a bedroom makeover with a feminine edge, I am sharing 6 fun ideas to get you started.

1. Buy New Sleepwear

When you start a bedroom makeover, you might as well start with yourself first since this space really is all about you. Clean out your jammie drawer and ditch all the old raggedy sleepwear that has seen better days. Replace it with new womens pyjamas in several different seasonal styles. Start with a few pairs for the current season and then add to your lounge and sleepwear collection as the seasons change.

The clothing we wear to sleep really is just as important as the clothing we wear for the world to see. Feeling comfortable and keeping warm or cool depending on the night contributes to healthier sleep patterns. And everyone looks better when they are getting proper sleep.

2. Update Your Curtains

Curtains are a main focal point in any room so you want to allow your personality to shine through your window treatments as well. If your curtains need an update to something more stylish, consider changing the color, opacity, length, or style. Keep in mind that darker curtains will make the room appear duller but will also block out more sunlight while brighter colors will lighten up the room. Choose your decor and color palette depending on the bedroom mood that you want to set for optimal comfort and sleep.

3. Add Quality Bedding

As the name suggests, your bed is the central focus of your bedroom. It is also the most important piece of furniture in that room and so it really should get the most attention when making over your bedroom. Invest in quality sheets that are comfortable and provide optimal sleep conditions. I prefer natural fibers that are high quality and eco-friendly and keep at least two sets of sheets in rotation for laundering purposes. You also want to choose a visual aesthetic that appeals to you in color and theme. If you need more inspiration, a quick online search will provide endless ideas.

4. Set Proper Lighting

We want our bedrooms to be dark at night for sleeping but bright in the daytime for all of the other things that we women do in our bedrooms like getting dressed, reading a book, or doing yoga. Setting up your bedroom so that it gets adequate natural lighting at the right times of day is one way to arrange your room. Natural light filters through your windows depending on the type and color of your curtains as well as the positioning of your windows.

But you can’t rely entirely on just one natural light source. Lighting options for bedrooms include overhead lights, floor lamps, or table lamps. Some lighting options may require the help of a licensed professional for installation so you may consider contacting a Sydney electrician if your lighting choices require more than a simple plug. A lamp on your dresser top or vanity is also a helpful light source when getting yourself ready for the day. Layered lighting is another option that elevates and adds an extra bit of coziness to your bedroom. And if you are feeling particularly whimsical, you could even add a let’s stay home neon sign to light up your bedroom in a super cool way.

5. Add a Full Length Mirror

Everyone should have a full length mirror somewhere in their house to do a full body check before walking out into the world. Ideally, the bedroom would be the best place since that is where we prep ourselves for the day. Dresser top and vanity mirrors are nice additions to add a touch of glamour to your space. Perhaps you have a vintage aesthetic and prefer antique or victorian mirrors to grace your bedroom walls. More mirrors give you more opportunities to look fabulous and will certainly boost your confidence for the day! Also, strategically placed mirrors can make the room appear bigger.

6. Personalize Your Bedroom Decor

Decorating your bedroom can be done in a variety of different ways from a few minor changes or additions to a complete makeover. You want to make this space exactly as you like it since we spend at least one-third of our lives in our bedrooms.

A fresh coat of paint goes a long way in brightening up a room. Find inspiration online or visit your local home renovation store for current trends in room colors and other decor ideas. If you find painting overwhelming and want assistance from professionals, https://www.myhousepainter.com/ can help you find the best painting companies in your local area.

Adding other interior decorations like wall art and other furnishings is a great way to showcase your personality throughout your bedroom. Plants, natural or artificial, are an exceptional way to refresh and brighten your bedroom as well. Interior decor helps to create a cohesive and inviting bedroom aesthetic so take your time and create the bedroom of your dreams.

Stay tuned for more details about my current bedroom and complete home makeover. I will be sharing my slothy-slow progress as I go!

Haha. My big “makeover” scheme is to clean up my clutter.

My bedroom is also one of my “creative mess” areas and a lot of the above tips will never happen.

Speaking of lighting, my wonderful neighbor installed a night time security light that is triggered by all northbound traffic. It shines directly into my bedroom. I live on a busy street. Argh. At first, I had to deploy eyeshades to get sleep. I’m more or less used to it now.

Oh my goodness, Anne, you crack me up! My bedroom has limited clutter because it is all stuffed into my closet room! That room will likely never be made over. I hate when outdoor lights blast me in the face when I am sleeping! I don’t know how you could ever adapt to such a thing. Black out curtains maybe…which I should get anyway because even the sunshine blasting through the curtains wakes me. Ha. Who am I kidding? I never sleep until the sun is up! I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend, my friend!

Woohoo! I hit ’em all! We repainted the bedroom this past year. It was a lavender that read a little too baby nursery. I really wanted a greyed lavender, but I couldn’t find one. I finally settled on just plain light grey. It was strange, as we were painting, against the lavender walls, the paint looked green! As we’d just repainted the kitchen a year or so before (green), I really didn’t want a green bedroom. Once the whole room was painted, the grey shown through! But, I’m kinda known in our family for repainting rooms so who knows how long this room will be grey! I am lucky because my bedroom is the size of our living room (I know because the living room is directly below the bedroom and the walls line up). I have lots of real estate and can rearrange to my heart’s content (except for the damned bed which is king size and has to stay in one place). My bedroom is full of little mementos and pictures that are personally meaningful to me. This was a fun read, Shelbee! I still can’t wait to see what unfolds for you!

Marsha, thank you for sharing your bedroom makeover process! When I was a kid, my mom was always repainting and rearranging rooms as well and it has stuck with me my whole life as a thing you do! It’s a great way to make the old new again! My bedroom is very large as well, nearly the size of my living room, so I have lots of room to maneuver things around. We also have a king size bed and I do not have it positioned in a very feng shui way so I definitely need to change that around! I love that you have your bedroom filled with sentimental mementos. That is the perfect place for such things!

All i need is a full lenght mirror! I think a cozy bedroom is important. We do spend a lot of time there, so the sphere should be cozy and relaxed.

I have two full length mirrors and a vanity mirror. Actually one full length mirror in my bedroom and the other in my closet room. I can’t wait to get my room makeover completed because I spend so much time in there! Have a great weekend, my friend.
