Shelbee Asked…About IVF
I have been blessed with two beautiful sons, both naturally conceived within a few months of deciding we wanted to conceive. For this, I feel fortunate and very grateful. I have never had a struggle or experienced any fertility issues whatsoever, but I have many friends who have. And as I listened to their stories and observed their journeys, I definitely gained an even greater appreciation for the blessings in my life. Motherhood is the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life and I have done it willingly giving every ounce of my being to it. I entered the state of motherhood energized and excited. And now…

14 Life Lessons I Have Learned Through Blogging & Link Up On the Edge #108
Time really does fly when you are having fun, doesn’t it? I cannot believe that I have been at this blogging game for three years already! THREE years. That is kind of a long time to commit to something that you have to be 100% self-motivated to stay on track. Granted over the past three years, my commitment may have waxed and waned a bit, but for the most part I have remained fairly consistent. It is truly a labor of love…work of this sort. And so many things have evolved and changed since the beginning of Shelbee on the Edge. I have been brainstorming for weeks about what I…

How to Transition a Summer Kimono into Fall
So you know I am obsessed with kimonos, right? I just bought a new one yesterday. I simply couldn’t resist. I had been watching and waiting for it to go on sale. Not that it was expensive at full price, but I certainly did not need another kimono so I figured it was a little bit more fiscally responsible to at least wait for it to go on clearance. It started at $22.99 and I snagged it for $9.99. Here is a sneak peek. I completely went off topic here. As will happen when the topic is kimonos. I could literally talk about them all day long on the subject…

The Random Act of Kindness That Made My Day & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #85
I am sure many of you have heard of this painted rock project that has swept across the United States over the past few years. The goal of this project was simply to make someone smile if they found one of these pretty little hand painted rocks hidden somewhere in their community. Facebook pages have been dedicated to each community’s painted rocks group where you can share photos of rocks that you have found. My kids are obsessed with finding painted rocks. We visit our local park regularly in search of them. And when they visit Gramma in Pennsylvania, they love to find rocks at her local park as well.…

Shelbee Says…”Forgive yourself.”
If you type in a simple Google search forgiveness quotes, you will find a plethora of profound and valuable statements from a vast array of wise individuals throughout the history of mankind. Forgiveness seems to be one of those virtues that allows us to let go of the wrongs that have been done to us or by us in order to move forward through the journey of our lives. Some wrongs may have been intentional with malicious purpose, some may merely be mistakes due to lack of insight, and some may be so incredibly minor as to have not much bearing at all on the grand scheme things, yet we…

Finding Gems in the Rubble & Link Up On the Edge #107
I know I have been sharing a lot recently about my Bipolar journey and I apologize if the topic is becoming redundant. You see, writing about it is the healthiest way I have learned to cope with it. Writing has been my main source of therapy since the very beginning. It allows for a process of purging. All of the destructive thoughts and internal demons get expelled by memorializing them into actual words. It’s a paradox of sorts…giving them life is the only way I can destroy them. I used to only write about it in my private journals, feeling like it was just too dark and fucked up to…

Pom Poms, Polka Dots, and Pigtails: Shopping My Closet
I have been on a bit of a spending freeze recently, not really by choice but by necessity, so I have been digging deep into the expansive recesses of my overflowing closet room to create some fun end of summer outfits. I have had these lacy mustard shorts with pom pom trim for a few years now. I got them from the Target clearance rack a few years ago. I love the elastic and drawstring waistband for comfortability and ease. I showed these shorts two years ago on the blog styled with the same Target flatform sandals and a plain black tee shirt. This sheer polka dot blouse is one…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-August 2018-Kimonos
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Over a year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit. For this series, you can choose…

Solitary Consignment & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #84
I have been having so much fun these past few weekends visiting some local boutiques in my town and playing dress up! Last week, I took you all on a trip through Strut Boutique in downtown Watertown and that post seemed to be received with a lot of enthusiasm. So this past weekend, I popped into a little gem of a shop just a few blocks down from Strut Boutique. Located right in the heart of Watertown’s Public Square is the cutest second-hand shop, Solitary Consignment. Solitary Consignment specializes in second-hand items that range from fast fashion pieces to high end luxury designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Coach, Dooney and…

How to Style a Pink Kimono for Fall
I was just working on a guest post for Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart for her upcoming trip to Poland and I stumbled across this outfit post in my drafts that was used last September for a guest post at Doused in Pink. (Jill has since brought her blog to an end, but you can still read all of her posts if you are interested.) I realized I never shared this fun pink and teal look on my own blog and since I am all about kimonos lately, I figured why not recycle an old kimono outfit from last year…plus it shows that kimonos are still trending pretty strong…
