SIA Gallery of Style | “Count on Me” by Ryan McCallister

Welcome to the SIA Gallery of Style and thank you so much to those of you who joined us for this round of Style Imitating Art!

About Style Imitating Art

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Terri of MeadowTree Style, and Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.

You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag SalazarTerri, and Shelbee or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

The Inspiration Artwork

You can read why I chose this specific piece as my inspiration artwork here.

The Artwork

These warrior goddess inspired outfits are in no particular order. If you have submitted a photo and I did not include it, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle. You can read more details about each outfit by clicking on the individual blog links or the images in this post.

Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
Marsha’s immediate focus when she saw the art was the metal cage work and the greens and blues of the stained glass wings. She ultimately landed on this blue dress that also has some pinks and other colors reflected in the river rocks. The swirly background pattern represents the stainless steel armature of the sculpture. What a great dress. Perfect for any warrior goddess!
Sally of Within a World of My Own
Sally was inspired by the color scheme of the sculpture’s wings and the curvy metalwork of her body when she created this gorgeous outfit in shades of blue-green with silver metallic details. I think this color palette is absolutely stunning on her!
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
14 Shades of Grey
After some thinking, Salazar landed on this combination of a brown dress (for the stones) and a plaid waistcoat (for the stained-glass wings). Her brooch is a nod to both the stones and the glass as well. I love plaid as a representation for the stained glass. I never would have thought of it myself! A very creative interpretation and a really cute outfit!
Terri of MeadowTree Style
With a focus on the statue’s wings and the use of stone, Terri opted for a blue and burgundy abstract houndstooth print silk blouse and brown silk trousers. She completed her look with brown heeled loafers and stone jewelry for a very pretty fall outfit.
And Me!
green paisley duster upcycle, thrifted boho dress, painted Panama hat, cowgirl boots, Bohemian style, Shelbee on the Edge, Style Imitating Art
My goddess warrior inspired outfit consists of a green paisley duster over a stony hued dress, some badass cowgirl boots, and the appropriate warrior goddess weaponry.

I hope y’all have enjoyed what we have created. If you would like to try one of these art inspired style challenges, be sure to stop back on Monday, October 16, 2023, for the next art inspiration. It is Salazar’s turn to choose the artwork.
