The Good Buy/Good-Bye Bookis a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.
Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.
The theme for January is Sneakers and we received lots of fun submissions this round. Now let’s hit the ground running and kick off this new year in our best sneaker styles!
*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.
“I chose these sneakers as they were the second pair I bought. On my blog you can see the first ones. And this was about the first time I wore sneakers under dresses. With a knit dress and thick tights. I now can’t imagine my life without sneakers anymore! They look good under everything, or almost everything. These are padded and that’s what I love about them. Padded reminds me of Chanel, lol.” -Nancy
“These Rifle Paper Co x Keds sneakers were a stunningly Good Buy that I almost didn’t make because I thought I didn’t need a pair of sneakers, but my husband talked me into it…and he was right!” -Sally

“I stumbled upon these Sketchers by accident last spring when I was taking one of my boys shoe shopping. I never buy sneakers but I was drawn to the colors and they were so comfortable. They were on sale too which made them a good buy! I paired them with some comfy wide leg yoga pants and a nice warm sweater for a warm, comfortable, winter look.” -Joanne

“These have to be the best, most comfortable sneakers I have ever worn. Keds Champion Originals that have been around for over 100 years. Of course I have only been wearing them for about 60 years as Mom dressed me in them when I was young. Besides being very stylish, these sneakers are so comfortable that you don’t even realize they’re on your feet.” -Jamie
“I am a avid walker and I love to workout daily. So I needed the perfect sneakers to not only be comfortable but highly versatile and I found them. These sneakers are a Good Buy! “I love my shiny rainbow checkerboard Vans but I don’t wear sneakers often enough to make these a Good Buy, despite their clearance price of under $30. If I wore sneakers more often, I would probably reach for these more often. Despite not wearing sneakers often, however, I have to say that my black Converse are definitely a Good Buy. I know I found these on clearance as well but it was probably 20 years ago so I can’t remember much about the purchase. But the fact that I still have them and wear them 20 years later is evidence of their Good Buy status.” -Shelbee

Ah, I didn’t get my Sneaker act together in time.
I don’t wear them much either. I went through a patch of buying a bunch of Keds’ style off Poshmark (including one of my Worst Buys, that were stinky and I threw them away immediately). I find they are just not right for me — too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter. I’m liking clogs better when I need utilitarian footwear.
That said, I had a Most Comfortable pair of suede/padded Converse that I wore to death in the 00s and early 10s.
AND
I loved my platform sneakers in the mid 90s. I even hiked up Blue Mountain in a pair!
You can still send me your sneakers submission! I’ll add it in. I love the way sneakers look from a style perspective…on everyone but me! I remember wearing cute little platform sneakers with slip dresses in the late 90s and I was super excited when that trend rolled back around. Like you though, I don’t find sneakers very utilitarian at all either. I wear my Birkies and my rope sandals in the summer and boots in the winter. And since I don’t go to a gym to exercise, I do that barefoot in my living room, I don’t have much use for sneakers at all. They will be cleaned out very soon! Who wears a size 10?????

Wonderful show of some great looking sneakers. I have probably 16 pairs of white canvas sneakers because that’s all I wear in the summer. I always pair my sneaker with leggings as I have at least 40 pairs of leggings which I could and do wear everyday. There is nothing better then to be comfortable in the clothes you wear and don’t let anyone bust your bubble. Sneakers are just the best. Thanks again for the invite!
