The Fab 40’s Interpret Harajuku
You are never too old to learn new things, explore different ideas, and experiment with your personal style. You can decide to reinvent yourself at any time or you can be content with the same old routine of you if that’s what makes you happy. For me, I am rarely content with the same old routine of anything. I get bored of the mundane so quickly which leaves me always willing to stir things up whether it is through my writing, traveling, music, or style. Life keeps us busy and structure is so important to keep us grounded and responsible. But really, that can get so painfully boring sometimes. We…

Friday Favorites #5 & Link Up On the Edge #192
I just realized that I haven’t shared a Friday Favorites post in over a month. This has given me plenty of time to accumulate a list of some new favorite things to share with you. First, can we talk about menopause for a moment? Where does all the freaking facial fuzz come from? Is it the multivitamins that I need to take to manage the unsavory menopausal symptoms or is it the menopause itself? And why did the hair growth on my legs slow down so much in midlife (I am not complaining about that) while the hair on my face seems to grow faster than a chia pet? It…

Inspired by Pinterest: Black Tulle and Combat Boots
A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Pinterest to find inspiration for our next Fab 40’s theme, which is a really fabulous theme by the way, so be sure to stop by on Monday and check it out. During my scrolling session, I came upon these all black Gothic-ish outfits which featured voluminous black skirts (most of them tulle), oversized black tops, and black boots. While the style has absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming Fab 40’s theme that I needed to be preparing for, I found myself pinning all of these looks like an obsessed person. Something about them was just screaming to my inner punk rock,…

How to Style a Kimono 2 Ways &#SpreadTheKindness Link Up #169
My well of inspiration is running dry these days spent in lockdown mode. Since I draw my inspiration and motivation from human connections and my experiences in the world, it was only a matter of time before I ran out of things to say and topics to discuss that I haven’t already discussed a million times over. I have been digging through my old journals and finding lots of gems in there that have inspired a few pieces of writing, the most recent being Sunday’s post, Sunday Sillies: The Diarrhea Song. As much as I enjoy potty humor, it is not always appropriate and it can get tiresome very quickly.…

Sunday Sillies: The Diarrhea Song
I was paging through an old journal last week that was written in the fall of 2004 and I came upon a 7 page entry where I penned 75 verses to the Diarrhea Song. As I sat in my basement haven, smoking a bowl, I suddenly found myself in a fit of hysterical laughter. So I figured I would share some of the best verses here. If you do not appreciate toilet/bathroom/poop humor, you should probably just stop reading now and move on to something more intellectual, more practical, or more inspirational. I do have lots of posts in my blog archives that fit those descriptions, but this post is…

Smile Brilliant: Use Your Smile to Change the World & Link Up On the Edge #191
“Use your smile to change the world; don’t let the world change your smile.” Chinese Proverb *This is a collaborative post with Smile Brilliant. The at home teeth whitening system was provided to me for purposes of this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. We are living in very difficult times at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we should allow the challenges that face us to change who we are. We should try our very best to rise above the chaos, maintain our positive outlooks, and smile through it all. For when times get dark, sometimes a smile is the best way to brighten…

Celebrate Earth Day in Boho Style & Your Own Twist Link Up #19
Wednesday, April 22, 2020, marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in the United States. The first Earth Day celebration happened on April 22, 1970, as a unified response of 20 million Americans to an environment in crisis. As environmentally conscious citizens were witnessing extensive destruction to our earth through smog, oil spills, and rivers that were so polluted that they were literally catching on fire, they united in protest to environmental ignorance and demanded a new way of living and respecting our planet. This very first Earth Day celebration is credited with igniting the modern environmental movement that is in full force these 50 years later. Earth Day is…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Denim Jackets
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for…

Accessorizing to Support Small Businesses & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #168
With so many small businesses suffering right now, it is important to support your favorite ones as we all struggle to get through this trying time. That being said, it is difficult to support any business if you too have suffered a loss of income due to government shut downs. But it is the small businesses that are the backbone of our economy. So even if you are only able to do a little bit, any little bit is helpful. I have always been an advocate for supporting small businesses and since I never have an unlimited budget to indulge myself in all the wonderful things these shops have to…

Awesome Archie is Taking Over for Radical Ralphie
Radical Ralphie has refused to get dressed for a photoshoot since January. In fact, he even refused to be part of our Easter family photos yesterday. But his big brother, Awesome Archie, is turning into a willing participant. We had fun with hair dye last weekend. And yesterday, we were able to take some fun photos in the park showcasing Archie’s vibrant blue hair which contrasted perfectly against his light gray camouflage flannel hoodie. Hair Dye Day Archie does not have the same extensive wardrobe as Ralphie. He is definitely a sweatpants and hoodies kind of lad. As he is quickly outgrowing much of his wardrobe, perhaps I will be…
