The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Maxi Skirts

Maxi skirts is just a fancy term for long skirts. However, the maxi length generally indicates that the hem falls below the middle of your calf. A long skirt that is calf length is usually referred to as a midi skirt. Then, of course, you have short skirts that hit just above the knee, mini skirts that usually hit about half way down your thigh, and micro mini skirts that show your bum if you bend over. But we’re keeping it maxi for this edition…so any long skirt will do. Thanks to everyone who joined us this month in sharing their long skirt styles…good buys or good-byes!

If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo in either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions get lost in the shuffle.

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

“Good heaven, what was I thinking? The whole combination! No! The skirt was just so incredibly polyester, horrible. Let’s just say you would have been warmer wearing absolutely nothing. A big, fat Good-Bye to that.”

“Here is the image of me wearing my newly bought maxi boho skirt. Cheers.”

“I am wearing a high low maxi, that is ankle length in the back and midi length in the front. It is a wrap style, with long sleeves in a dark green chiffon with a floral spray of white flowers. I don’t wear a maxi often, but I like this one and have worn it for several years around the winter holiday season, especially. I would consider this dress a good buy, and like my other submission, I need to branch out to wear it more casually!”

“I can’t even remember when or where I bought this maxi skirt but It is one of my all time favorites. I love the print and the colors so much. It goes so well with everything in my closet and is lightweight enough for summer but works wells with leggings underneath for winter. It has been such a good buy!”

“Maybe it’s cheating that I’m sending this skirt photo since we just published it recently, but I have to admit it really was a good buy. I found it on Suzanne’s Etsy site at least 8 years ago, and I usually wear it for holiday times. But I love pushing myself to wear it any and every day.”

“Here’s my maxi skirt! I loved this so much I bought it in the other colorway, too! It’s by Gudrun Sjoden and I can’t wait to wear it again. It’s a bit heavy for summer.”

“I have added two maxi skirts, the purple for winter and the brown for summer.
And both were a good buy, the brown one is very agreeable to wear though normally I love it shorter.”

Up Next for November: Fall Coats or Outerwear

I don’t know if there’s much difference between a fall coat and a winter coat except maybe fall coats are lighter weight. Remember that we aren’t that picky, so if you have any coat that you’d like to put in the spotlight, please share it with us!

If you would like to join us for the next round, all you have to do is take a photo or two and email them to us with a brief description about your fall coat and whether it’s a Good Buy or a Good-Bye. You are welcome to submit two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Please email your photos and descriptions by the 10th of November to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can add you to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. And be sure to stop back on November 15, 2026, to see what everyone shares.
