Some of My Favorite Christmas Gifts & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #789
Now that the holiday chaos has settled and the children have returned to school, it is time for me to get back to regular life. No more sitting around in my pajamas, makeup free with messy hair, until lunchtime. I must resume the stay-at-home mom duties that keep me busy for 16-18 hours a day and leave me exhausted before the sun goes down. During the holiday break, I didn’t do much. In fact, I barely left my house except for a few times for various appointments as well as a family movie outing to see Avatar: Fire and Ash, which, by the way, is my least favorite of the…

Car Depreciation Reality: What Your Vehicle Is Actually Worth Right Now
Do you love your vehicle? If you’re like most vehicle owners, you probably do, even if the new car smell has long since faded. But as car owners create a relationship with their vehicle, they also develop ideas about worth. How much did you pay for it? What’s your maintenance cost? Maybe they even factor in that cool stereo system they had installed. Regardless, over time, vehicle owners tend to value their cars higher than the market price. And the sad thing is, the reality of vehicle depreciation is nowhere near as good as people think until it comes time to sell. Your vehicle is not an appreciating home or…

The Thrifty Six are Vested
This is the final Thrifty Six challenge for 2025 and Sally chose our theme…Vested. Because we are an international group, it is important to point out that the term vested doesn’t translate as easily as one might assume. I personally interpreted the theme as “style a vest” but even the word vest, as a garment, doesn’t translate as easily as one would think. In the Untied States, we use the term vest to mean a sleeveless garment, generally worn over a shirt, also called a waistcoat. But in South Africa, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, and much of Europe, a vest is a sleeveless undershirt, or as we Americans call…

Styling My New Work Boots & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #786
I know that I have mentioned previously how much I enjoy splitting wood for my fireplace. Ever since getting our fireplace redone and up to code, the wood chores have become my favorite out of all of my household obligations. From stacking to splitting to fireplace prep and clean up, I truly enjoy every bit of it. I think it makes me feel a little closer to nature. It also makes me feel a little closer to my retirement goals of living in an isolated, rural place where I can chop my wood at any time of day instead of being bound by city noise ordinances that prohibit the sound…
