Seeking Redemption & SpreadTheKindness Link Up #174
Today is a day that I will be seeking redemption…all day long. You see, between losing all track of the days in quarantine and then suffering from a severe abdominal issue yesterday (which turned out to be nothing more than really bad gas), I completely and totally forgot today was Jeff’s birthday. We woke as normal, went through all the normal morning routines, I kissed him good-bye as he left for work, and about an hour later I looked at the calendar and I gasped. And I cursed. A lot. And I sent off a hasty text message which could in no way make up for my oversight. The guilt…

The Fab 40’s Meet My Inner Child
All too often it happens that we lose touch with the innocence and whimsy of the inner child that is the foundation upon which our adult selves have evolved. When that connection between inner child and responsible adult falters, life will just start killing you at too rapid a pace. As we get older and more and more obligations pile on, it becomes very easy to get disconnected from that childlike joy that was once the only kind of living we knew. You know, when we were actual children. Carefree and cared for, playful and guileless, spontaneous and absolutely inside every moment. Moral compasses are passed down like heirlooms and…

Tribute to Texas & Link Up On the Edge #196
I hate when I run out of words. My own words. It happens sometimes, I know. But it is still super frustrating. Rather than allow it to totally piss me off, however, I decided to turn outside of my brain and share some words that have already been written. Not by me. Let me explain. A long, long time ago, my favorite place on earth was Texas. I used to travel there frequently for work and I absolutely loved everything about it. It also held a very special place in my heart as my father always spoke of Texas as his favorite place on earth as well. I never got…

What to Wear to a Spring Birthday Party & Your Own Twist Link Up #20
Today is not my actual birthday. That comes next week. It is also not my blog birthday. That comes in August. But it is time for our monthly style challenge. Monica and I chose Spring birthday party outfits for this month’s Your Own Twist because May is the month where I celebrate the most birthdays. In fact, I just ordered a birthday cake for this Saturday to celebrate life and friendship. With the Memorial Day holiday weekend upon us and social distancing measures slowly easing, we will be cooking outside with our neighbors, enjoying fresh air, good food, probably lots of drinks, and a birthday cake from my favorite baker,…

How to Gain More Insight into Your Life
We spend a lot of our time coping with the world around us. Indeed, much of what we do is reactionary as we are simply responding to the external forces that impact us. However, while this is sometimes unavoidable, if you approach the world in reactionary mode for too long, you may quickly find yourself swept up in a whirlwind of a life that does not make you altogether happy. It is difficult to find our truest happiness when we allow the outside world to dictate our lives rather than creating the story we actually want. One of the best ways to shape the life that you want is to…

Watching and Wearing 2 & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #173
I think I have been existing in a vortex of pot smoke and boredom for so many weeks now that I feel like the outside world maybe isn’t reality. With the weather finally beginning to resemble spring, the kids have been spending hours outside which leaves me to my own whims. But my whims are few and far between because there is still no where to go and not much to do. So I cuddle up in my cozy sweaters and scarves because I am still freezing even in the middle of May and then I escape into the television. It makes me feel like there is something more than…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Pre-Loved Items & Link Up On the Edge #195
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. As we have all been sitting around in quarantine…

Inspired by Jaymie Ashcraft: Camo, Black, and Snakeskin
I don’t know how it is that I have never before created an outfit inspired by Jaymie of Everyday Style by Jaymie Ashcraft. I first became acquainted with Jaymie way back in 2015 when we both began our fashion blogs right around the same time. I have always loved the casual outfit formulas that she shares featuring pieces that are easy to find in your own closet. But if you happen to not have a particular item and you think you might want to buy it, Jaymie also provides links to similar or exact pieces at very reasonable budget-friendly prices. Her commitment to showcasing wearable and affordable outfits for everyday…

Weekend Recap with Evolution CBD Cream & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #172
This past weekend was quite a strange one from celebrating Mother’s Day in seclusion to some freaky snow storm that descended upon us. We woke up on Saturday morning to a winter wonderland, but fortunately it warmed enough to melt it all by Sunday morning. While snow in May is not uncommon where I live, by this point in the year I am really quite over it. So I was thankful that Mother’s Day was sunny and pleasant although a bit on the chilly side. We were able to head out to the park and take some photos of my Mother’s Day outfit while the kids rolled down the giant…

Radical Ralphie: A Patriot in Red
Last Sunday when we ventured out to Sackets Harbor for ice cream and to photograph my Pink Tights & Denim Shorts outfit, Radical Ralphie got his groove back as The Boy Fashion Blogger. Plus he has not been too keen on Awesome Archie trying to steal his spotlight. The sibling rivalry gets stronger every day between these two little scamps of mine. Ralphie did not get dressed with photographs in mind, but it was the first warm day where he could appropriately don his favorite USA tank top. I was a bit cold wearing long sleeves, tights, and a jacket, but Ralphie is not so phased by this cold climate…
