A Letter to Myself at 18 Years Old & Link Up On the Edge #53
Recently, I was asked to participate in an initiative run by Earnest which focuses on encouraging and motivating recent high school and college graduates. It was suggested to me that this would be a great opportunity for me to reminisce about those years of life. It is interesting that this request came to me when it did as I am currently struggling with the concept of lost memories. I understand that memories fade with age, but it is also quite common for memories to be lost due to chemical reactions that occur in a Bipolar brain. If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that I have…

My New Goth Style in the 21st Century with DressLily
Way back when…meaning 25 years or more back…when I was in high school (Yikes…my 25th high school reunion is in the planning process), I was a little bit Goth. I dyed my hair the blackest black even back then. And I would use to baby powder on my face to get it as pale as I could. The darker the lipstick and the heavier the eyeliner, the better. Combat boots were my favorite footwear. And black was my favorite color. Unfortunately, I also hid from cameras so there is not a photograph to be found of my 90’s Goth style. *This is a sponsored post. I received this dress in…

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding with DressLily & Link Up On the Edge #52
It is summer wedding season and although I do not have any open invitations this year, my brother-in-law is getting married next May. In preparation for that event, I have been trying out some different dress options. My boys will both be in the wedding all decked out in their little tuxedos and most likely not on their best behavior. I’m sure I will have to intervene and assist them at some point, putting me directly in the spotlight for at least a moment, since it is a natural human instinct to look at the parents of the rowdy children and wonder what the hell kind of mother allows their…

Is Kindness a Dying Virtue? And #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #29
What is kindness? The act of being kind. The adjective kind in reference to a person is defined by Merriam-Webster as this: “of a sympathetic or helpful nature.” Dictionary.com defines kind this way: “of a good or benevolent nature or disposition; indulgent, considerate, or helpful; humane.” Wikipedia refers to kindness as a virtue and references religion, ancient philosophy, and various cultural beliefs as a context for kindness. From Wikipedia: “Kindness is a behavior marked by ethical characteristics, a pleasant disposition, and a concern for others. It is known as a virtue, and is recognized as a value in many cultures and religions (see ethics in religion). Aristotle, in Book II of his…

The Dirty Little J Word
The story behind this post goes back a few weeks. It took me that long to process my feeling enough to be able to write about it. And it is taking a lot for me to write about it even now. Because it is about a feeling that I have not experienced often in my life. And one that I certainly haven’t experienced at all in the past decade or so. But the main reason it is so difficult to discuss is because I am just embarrassed. Really quite embarrassed for feeling the way I felt I few weeks back. Despite my embarrassment, I am going to share it with…

Torrid Date Night Outfit & Link Up On the Edge #51
Last month, I wrote a post about our trip to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and gave you a sneak peak of my date night outfit from Torrid Salmon Run Mall. Today, I am going to share some more photos and details on that outfit…mostly because I have been so busy the past two weeks that I have not photographed one single outfit. Well, except for the 8 outfits that I styled this past Sunday for my photo shoot with the super talented Sarissa Melissa Photography. I am so excited to share the final outcome of that photo shoot! But those photos will have to wait until another day. This outfit from Torrid…

Happy Independence Day to all of my American friends! On July 1, WatertownFirst kicked off a weeklong celebration of local, independent businesses. A Little Post About Gratitude & Link Up On the Edge #50
Today started out to be quite dreadful. It began with a feverish and vomiting child, miserable PMS getting the best of me in every possible way, a broken toilet, and gray rainy weather. I succumbed to the misery for a brief moment (well maybe for a good 6-8 hours), but as I am writing this I have decided to change my perspective. The child is starting to feel better, nothing serious but a mild stomach bug. The toilet has been fixed by my incredible husband. The PMS and the rain are still persisting, but these things shall pass. So enough of all that nonsense, instead I want to talk about…

How to Style a Tie Dyed Neckerchief & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #27
If you know me at all from a style perspective, then you know that scarves are my thing. My favorite accessory ever. The easiest way to add color and interest to any outfit. Although my personal collection of scarves runs in excess of 100 (probably closer to 200, if I am being completely honest), I still cannot pass up a fun and interesting scarf when I see one. And when I saw this adorable tie dyed bandana made by Heather of HomemadeHaven, I simply could not pass it by. I love the deep blues and purples in the dyes she chose. And I thought it would be the perfect accessory…
