Talking to Dead People & Link Up On the Edge #120
On Wednesday night, I was invited to join a group of nine other women to meet at a friend’s house for a little spiritual fun with a local psychic/medium. I had never met with a psychic or a medium before and I found the idea of it to be quite fascinating. Ever since my parents passed away, 24 and 12 years ago, their spirits have always been a very strong presence in my life, so the idea of a person who quite literally talks to dead people intrigued me. So I agreed to join the party. Being the novice that I am on matters of channeling the spiritual world, I…

Styling Tall Boots for Fall & Your Own Twist Link Up #2
Remember my post, Running on Empty? I told you all I had about a million collaborations coming up…and here is my third one this week. This one was Monica’s brainchild and it’s a fun one! We have Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood joining us co-host this month. Last month, we brought to you Fashion Icon Halloween Costumes and this month we are sharing our fall outfits featuring tall boots. As I stated in yesterday’s edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you know I love my combat boots. And this over the knee version that I got from ShoeDazzle last year are some of my absolute favorites. They are perfect over…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-November 2018-Boots
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Over a year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit. For this series, you can choose…

The Holiday Series 2018-Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #97
Ada is at it again with a huge blogger collaboration series this year! Of course, I am always ready to join her and this fabulous line up of amazing blogger friends. Today, there are 13 of us bringing you lots of outfit inspiration just in time for Thanksgiving Day. Get cozy, get comfortable, get warm, and eat all the yummy food! For my outfit, I chose my super comfortable, extra stretchy skinny boyfriend jeans from Torrid layered up with a plain gray long sleeve tee shirt and a very old, but very cozy purple poncho sweater. And to keep some edge with my casual style, I added these fun gray…

Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback #10: Why Can’t We Just Close Teams Out?
#20 Penn State Nittany Lions 22 – Wisconsin Badgers 10 Welcome to the tenth episode of Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback! Before I turn it over to my husband, the Sunday Morning Quarterback, I want to briefly explain what I am wearing for today’s post. Recently, Dawn Lucy of Fashion Should Be Fun hosted a giveaway for a $250 shopping spree to Foxcroft NYC who specialize in no-iron classic button down shirts and I was the winner! I had to try one of their white button down shirts to see what the rave was all about. Since I was going with white, I also chose a pair of indigo wash denim cropped…

A Girl Walked into a Bar & Link Up On the Edge #119
You know that old philosophy that people come into your life for a reason? Everyone has a purpose to serve within each encounter and each relationship. What that purpose is will differ with each individual dynamic and each separate event. Some people will push you. Some will challenge you. Some will question you. Some will teach you. Some will frustrate the hell out of you. Some will bring you pleasure. Some will bring you pain. Some will enrich you. Some will empower you. Some will feed your intellect. Some will fuel your soul. Some will hate you with a passion. And some will love you with no bounds. So many…

Cold Weather Coziness with Ethyl Clothing
It is that time of year when the weather in Northern New York just turns kind of crummy. While the fall foliage is absolutely stunning up here, it lasts for a very short period of time and before we know it we are buried in snow until some time in May. And as you are all probably well aware by now, I get so damn stinking cold when the temperatures drop below 50. I honestly don’t know how I am going to survive this winter if we hit our typical temperatures of 20 to 40 degrees below zero. When Ethyl Clothing invited me to try out some of their fall…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week & An Outfit
I know I only shared two Word of the Week posts so far, but I have to admit, I am not a fan. I don’t like it. It was supposed to be an easy post to write but then I found myself getting all stressed trying to come up with a great word for the day. So silly…getting stressed about such a benign thing. So I am bailing on the Word of the Week posts in favor of a Quote of the Week instead. I do love a good quote! And while I do enjoy the etymology of words, stringing a bunch of words together to create magic is way…

Explaining a Soldier’s Suicide
If you read yesterday’s Sunday Morning Quarterback, you know that my husband recently lost a good friend and co-worker to suicide. My husband is a man of a few words…especially when it comes to things that are very emotionally heavy. The Army and multiple deployments spent on the front lines taught him that. So I am so very proud of him for touching on the subject in his weekly post. But I believe it warrants a deeper conversation, a conversation that is obviously important to me as I frequently discuss issues of mental health in my blog space. If you are struggling with mental health issues of your own or…
