The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Leggings
We are welcoming the new year in one of my favorite wardrobe staples…Leggings! They keep me cozy, warm, and comfortable nearly all year round. The only time I put my leggings away is on the days when it is too hot for tight clothes. But days that hot don’t happen often where I live so my leggings are always readily available for wear at any time. I have thin ones for warmer weather and fleece lined ones for cold weather. I have full length ones, cropped ones, and even biker shorts which are just a really short version of leggings. I have them in many colors, prints, and patterns as…

The Thrifty Six are Vested
This is the final Thrifty Six challenge for 2025 and Sally chose our theme…Vested. Because we are an international group, it is important to point out that the term vested doesn’t translate as easily as one might assume. I personally interpreted the theme as “style a vest” but even the word vest, as a garment, doesn’t translate as easily as one would think. In the Untied States, we use the term vest to mean a sleeveless garment, generally worn over a shirt, also called a waistcoat. But in South Africa, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, and much of Europe, a vest is a sleeveless undershirt, or as we Americans call…

Styling My New Work Boots & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #786
I know that I have mentioned previously how much I enjoy splitting wood for my fireplace. Ever since getting our fireplace redone and up to code, the wood chores have become my favorite out of all of my household obligations. From stacking to splitting to fireplace prep and clean up, I truly enjoy every bit of it. I think it makes me feel a little closer to nature. It also makes me feel a little closer to my retirement goals of living in an isolated, rural place where I can chop my wood at any time of day instead of being bound by city noise ordinances that prohibit the sound…

Holiday Party Outfit & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #785
Tonight is Jeff’s annual company holiday party. He began working for a local HVAC company upon retirement from the Army nearly five years ago and he has been happier than I have ever known him to be. He absolutely loves his job and his job loves him as evidenced by the stellar way that he is treated by his employer and the respect he has garnered from his fellow employees. Back in 2016, I watched an episode of The Voice where Jennifer Hudson was the guest mentor. The contestants had asked her for advice that they could take with them into their music careers and her response has stuck with…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Wrap Dresses
The holidays are here, bringing with them many opportunities for dressing up! So for December’s edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we are featuring Wrap Dresses, which is a generic term referencing any dress that forms a front closure by wrapping one side across the other and securing it either in the back or on the side, usually forming a vee neckline. Wrap dresses that come already permanently fastened are called faux wrap dresses. You are welcome to share any kind of dress that has a wrap style whether it is faux or real! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s…
