Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Slingback Shoes
November’s theme is Slingback Shoes. It is important to note the specific characteristic that qualifies a shoe as a slingback so you can see if you have something to share with us this month. Basically, a slingback has an ankle strap that crosses only the back and sides of the ankle and heel instead of the more traditional shoe straps that encircle the ankle all the way around. Slingbacks come in a variety of different shoe styles including a classic heeled shoe with a low vamp as well as sandals. They can be open toed or closed toed and have any variety of heel styles and heights from stiletto to…

The Confidence Boost That Comes From Looking How You Want to Look
There’s a noticeable difference in how people carry themselves when they feel good about their appearance versus when they’re self-conscious or uncomfortable. It shows in posture, in how they engage with others, in their willingness to speak up or put themselves forward. This isn’t vanity or superficiality – it’s the simple reality that feeling confident about how you present yourself to the world affects how you move through it. When appearance aligns with how someone wants to be seen, that mental energy previously spent on worry or self-consciousness becomes available for actually being present and engaged. The connection between appearance and confidence works both ways. Confidence can certainly exist independent…

The Thrifty Six in Lace Skirts
If you have been following my blog for some time, you know that I regularly participate in different style challenges. As much as I love to get dressed without any stipulations, a style theme or challenge just makes getting dressed a little bit more fun. These challenges force me to pay closer attention to the details and encourage me to create unlikely combinations that I may not have otherwise thought to create. Some challenges are easier than others. Some outfits are better than others. But all of it adds a little extra joy to my life. And I know that we can all use a little extra joy these days…even…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Pink
October is International Breast Cancer Awareness Month so we decided to feature our favorite (or least favorite) wardrobe pieces in shades of Pink. The pink ribbon is the internationally recognized symbol of support for people with breast cancer. It was first adopted by the Susan G. Komen Foundation in 1991 as a way to raise awareness and promote early detection of the disease. If you are a woman of a certain age, annual breast exams are recommended. I am currently playing phone tag with my local women’s wellness center to schedule my mammogram. I usually go in October every year because it’s easy to remember to get it done during Breast…

When Youthful Invincibility Departs & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #776
Remember the days of youth when your young healthy body never let you down or made you question your mortality? Ahhh, those were the days when hope abounded and worry wasn’t a daily activity. This week abruptly forced me to face the fact that I am indeed aging. Like old machinery, old bodies start to experience glitches and other malfunctions and don’t recover as quickly as young bodies. About 2 weeks ago, my 14 year old caught a coxsackievirus, the sort that causes that awful illness known as hand, foot, and mouth disease. He went to the school nurse on a Thursday complaining of painful blisters on his hands. She…
