From Bridgerton to Boho, Regency to Rodeo

Whether it’s Bridgerton-inspired, bohemian, Western, Lolita, goth, preppy, steampunk, or any other style genre you can name, you can easily switch from one aesthetic to another with a quick change of accessories. And I’m going to show you how.
Yesterday, I shared What to Wear to a Bridgerton Brunch, featuring this same gingham dress and floral eyelet duster combination. As a general rule, I wear my outfits 2-3 times before washing and usually on consecutive days. So on the second and third days of the same outfit combination, I try to switch around my accessories to keep the outfit fresh and new with each iteration.
After wearing this pretty blue and white combination all drenched in piles of pearls for a Sunday morning Bridgerton brunch, I decided to return to my trademark bohemian cowgirl aesthetic for its subsequent styling.

It was one of the easiest outfit transitions to accomplish simply by trading out the Regency-inspired accessories for modern day Western-inspired accessories.
I removed all the pearl bracelets because they are just uncomfortable. Then I swapped the pile of pearl necklaces for a pile of white beaded and shell necklaces. My pearl drop earrings were replaced with ivory clay earrings and my lavender cloche hat was traded out for my white cowgirl hat. I ditched the white Furkenstocks and put on my tall white cowgirl boots. And finally, I added a recently thrifted pashmina scarf in a coordinating pale blue color.
And just like that, I took a Bridgerton Brunch outfit and made it appropriate for a Boho Barbecue. The two versions of this look can also go from a Regency Reception to a Raving Rodeo. Or better yet, I can wear either outfit combination anywhere I want including just hanging around my house and doing all the stay-at-home mom stuff that I do.
I really enjoy playing dress up and since there are no fashion rules that I’m willing to follow at this stage of life, I will wear a fancy dress to clean the toilet if I want to!

Do you get dressed up for no reason at all? I always have a reason and it’s a really good reason…getting dressed up makes me feel good about myself. Life is too short for feeling bad about yourself. Every day is a special occasion and I’m going to dress for it!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee
