Weekend in the Woods & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #662
We spent last weekend at a cabin in the woods in the Pennsylvania wilds. It is becoming an annual summer getaway where we unplug and spend some time communing with nature and each other. Potter County, Pennsylvania, is a rural county with approximately 16,000 residents living within its 1,082 square mile (2,800 km2) area. To give you some perspective of how rural this place is, my town of Watertown, New York, has about 26,000 residents living within its 9.3 square mile (24 km2) area, and our entire county (Jefferson), which is also considered quite rural, has 116,000 people occupying 1,857 square miles (4,810 km2). New York City is home to 8.8 million residents…

Home and Sewing Projects Updates & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #661
It is Friday and we are heading to Pennsylvania for a long family weekend in a few hours so I am going to share a lot of pictures with a lot less words for this post. I have been creating and updating and renovating and making over all sorts of things in my home and closet. My creative energies seem to be abundant and overflowing at this stage so I have just been embracing that spirit and riding the tide. So here are a few projects I have been working on around the house. I had finished my gypsy living room in April, but I needed to wait for warmer…

Songful Style | “Freak Flag” by Here Come the Mummies & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up on the Edge #660
It is my turn to choose the song for our next style inspiration and I am so excited to share this catchy, empowering tune! About Songful Style Songful Style is an ageless style challenge series hosted by Suzy of The Grey Brunette, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Each month we will share a song with the lyrics and video and we invite you to use whatever aspect of the song that inspires you to create an outfit. Girl with the Tie Dye Pants & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up on the Edge #659
Happy Friday, y’all! I am keeping it light and bright and easy today with a short post about the best tie dye pants ever. You have seen these twice before, here and here, but I have working them overtime this summer, wearing them at least twice a week in rotation with the other four pairs I have in different colorways. They are from one of my favorite hippy boutiques, Rainbow Zen, and they are the most comfortable trousers I own. They feel more like pajamas than clothing and the brightly colored tie dye always makes me happy. I paired them with my Girl with the Pearl Earring tee shirt. I…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Gold & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #658
From pearls in June to gold in July, we have been focused on precious stones and metals for our summertime Good Buys and Good-Byes. With the big bright xanthous sun hanging hot and shiny in the sky (well, not really, it’s been raining for days), we thought it was a great time to showcase the shiny golden things in our wardrobes. So won’t you join us in July to share your favorite (or least favorite) things in metallic gold. Remember anything goes…it can be clothing, shoes, accessories, or anything else gold that you feel compelled to put in the spotlight. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Pearls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #656
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos…

Stealing Ts & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #655
I admit it. I am a thief. I have been stealing Ts anywhere I can find them. Ever since the T on my laptop keyboard quit responding to the gentle tap-tap-tapping of my fingertips, I have been forced to copy and paste the letter T every single time I need one. And you know what? We use a lot of Ts in the English language so I am becoming quite an expert at letter larceny. No Ts are safe from my copy and paste game. I will steal them from Google, from news articles and Facebook posts, from email messages, from your websites and from my own. Whatever window happens…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Pearls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #654
Last month, we saw all things sheer and this month we are honoring the world’s oldest gem, the pearl. For our purposes, however, you don’t need to have genuine pearls. Fake and faux or plain old pearly plastic beads will do just fine. But if you do have genuine pearls to share, please show us those as well. I love pearls and have a few pieces with authentic pearls but most of my pearly things are undeniably and obviously fake pearls of the common plastic bead sort. Remember anything goes here. We are just having fun sharing our pearly pieces! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is…

The Other Ugly Dress Transformation & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #653
Before I get to the second ugly dress transformation, I must first wish my amazing husband (and photographer) a very happy birthday! We will be celebrating both of our birthdays (mine is on Tuesday), as well as Memorial Day, quietly at home on this holiday weekend. We are expecting gorgeous spring weather which is perfect for a birthday holiday weekend staycation! And with such beautiful weather on the horizon, my mind is racing with spring and summer outfit ideas so I do think I will be playing some dress up and pretending I am a fashion model over the weekend as well. I also have to make the curtains for…

A Dozen Years & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #652
May 1 was my first born Archie’s dozenth birthday. This got me wondering why do we measure years in decades instead of dozens? If we measured years in dozens, I would be four dozen years old right now instead of five decades old. And four makes me feel younger than five! Either way we measure it, Archie just turned 12 and he wanted to celebrate at WonderWorks where we had Ralph’s “experience” birthday party in March. The kids and Jeff did the ropes course and we all enjoyed the bubble room very much. Check out some photos from the day. The Bubble Room Random Activities The Ropes Course Jeff and…
