7 Years of Blogging & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #289
I am a day late with my link party but right on time to celebrate my 7th anniversary of blogging. Seven years ago today, on August 24, 2015, I apprehensively hit publish on a post about Church and Church Appropriate Attire. I received two comments on it. One comment was from Jessica of Jeans and a Teacup which came over a month later and one from Patrick of Adventures in Weseland which was posted in August 2020 probably after I linked the article in a newer post. Here is my outfit from that very first post. I actually just got rid of the shirt, pants, and jacket in a massive…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Beachwear/Resort Wear & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #288
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. The theme for August is Beachwear or Resort Wear.…

Olympic Stadium in Lake Placid, New York & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #287
Last weekend we took a family day trip to Burlington, Vermont, and we stopped in Lake Placid, New York, on the way home to visit Olympic Stadium, the site of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. We also explored the shops near the stadium and visited John Brown Farm, which was a very powerful experience that I will share in a later post. This post is dedicated to the joy of friendly competition that the Olympic Games inspire. But first, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast in our hotel in Plattsburgh, New York. Then we visited John Brown Farm first as it was on the way to Olympic Stadium. You…

As we near the end of summer, we decided to feature beachwear or resort wear for August’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This includes swim suits and swim suit cover ups, sarongs, wraps, sundresses, or cut off shorts. Really anything you would wear to the beach or to a summer resort vacation. You can even share your favorite (or least favorite) beach bag, sun hat, or other summer accessories. We have no rules here really, we just want you to play along! What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate…

For this next challenge, I have chosen “Mama” by Beth Hart to honor my deceased mother whose 74th birthday is this Saturday, July 30. This one is for you, Mama! How to Wear Meditation Beads & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #284
Last month, I shared my Journey to Tranquility with Zen Spirit Malas where I featured my meditation beads (mala) that were created specifically for me by Katherine of Katherine’s Corner. The Shelbee Mala is available for sale on her website Zen Spirit Malas along with many other beautiful designs of meditation beads and spiritual jewelry. Katherine will also create custom meditation beads based on your personal needs. I still haven’t gotten my regular meditation schedule set nor have I really practiced using my beads yet, but I have been wearing them often because I get this wonderful sense of peace and calm the moment I slip them around my neck.…

Summer Wedding Outfit & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #283
My best goddess girlfriend invited me to be her plus one at a wedding on Sunday afternoon. Two of her beautiful goddess friends were finally getting married after a two year postponement due to Covid. In the course of those two years, the brides had moved to Texas but their wedding in New York was already paid for so the show had to go on despite the fact that about a third of their invited wedding guests could not make it to the ceremony two years later. They had seats to fill and too much food that would be wasted so I got a last minute invitation that I was…

My Birthday Butterfly Kimono & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #282
My mother-in-law sent me this beautiful buttery yellow butterfly and floral print kimono for my birthday this year and I have been dying to share it with you all. I took these photos way back around the time of my birthday at the end of May but I haven’t had the opportunity to post them yet with all of our summer activities and my regularly scheduled style challenges. Speaking of my regular style challenges, are you familiar with all of them? They generally account for 12 posts per month which doesn’t leave me much space and time for sharing randomness these days. Anyone is welcome to play along with any…

Songful Style | “When Doves Cry” by Prince & The Revolution & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #281
We have come full circle and all five Songful Style bloggers have chosen their first song. So now we are onto round 2 starting with Suzy’s second song choice. Suzy chose one of her favorite songs of all time by one of my favorite artists of all time: ”When Doves Cry” by Prince & The Revolution. I have to admit that I was both excited and disappointed by her song choice. Excited because I adore Prince so much that I had convinced my 12 year old self that I was going to marry him. Clearly, I did not marry him. But I have always loved his music and his style.…

The Thrifty Six in Tropical Paradise & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #280
The Thrifty Six are back and it was my turn to choose our style theme for this month. I have to be honest with you, I had the dress in the mind before I chose the theme making this much less of a challenge for me. But I found this vibrant green tropical print slip dress on a winter thrifting adventure and it was begging for an occasion to be worn. So I made up a theme that went with the dress and I ran with it. My thrifty friends didn’t seem to mind though because they brought out some of the prettiest preloved outfits perfect for a tropical paradise.…
