Dress of Many Colors & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #298
This dress of many colors needed many photos to showcase how fun it is and how happy it makes me. Don’t you just love it when an outfit has mood boosting powers? It also reminds me of my favorite Dolly Parton song, Coat of Many Colors. It seems my outfits have been inspiring my music choices recently. My last outfit gave me James Taylor’s Copperline vibes and now I am tuning into Dolly! Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton Back through the years I go wonderin' once again Back to the seasons of my youth I recall a box of rags that someone gave us And how my momma…

Transition & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #297
Merriam-Webster defines transition as “a change or shift from one state, subject, place, etc. to another.” The Cambridge English Dictionary defines it as “the process of changing, or a change from one form or condition to another.” And Dictionary.com describes transition as “movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another.” These seem like simple enough definitions to explain a rather profound concept that permeates the entire human experience. Life often seems like it is an endless series of transitions. We are constantly changing from one state to another on the most basic levels as well as on the deepest levels of our existence. We learn from each experience whether it was a planned…

You Deserve to Be Seen and Heard & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #296
Last week I was doing a yin yoga class with affirmations for healing and one of the affirmations really struck me as something that needed further investigation. The exercise of using affirmations during meditative yoga practices is not meant to convince ourselves of the truth of any one affirmation. Instead, the practice is focused on finding which affirmations make you feel uncomfortable and then exploring the reasons for that discomfort. The affirmations are simply meant to prompt further self-examination and introspection. The affirmation that really struck me during this particular yoga session was I deserve to be seen and heard. When working with affirmations in yin yoga, it is important…

Songful Style | “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift & #SpreadTheKindness Link Party #294
Yesterday, we shared our colorful outfits inspired by “Over the Rainbow” by Hawaiian musician, singer, songwriter, and sovereignty activist Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, which means today I overload you with more melodic inspiration for our next Songful Style challenge. It was Suzy’s turn to choose a song to inspire our looks for October 31, 2022, and she picked “Look What You Made Me Do” by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift because the official music video has a Halloween element to it and is visually beautiful with so much fabulous sartorial inspiration. About Songful Style Songful Style is an ageless style challenge series hosted by Suzy of The Grey Brunette, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha…

Photowall for an Out of This World Room Makeover & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #293
I am so excited to share the progress of my recent room makeover with you all! This room makeover has been in the works since May when Photowall reached out to me with a collaboration opportunity. But in May, I knew that we had a busy summer schedule that included lots of events and mini vacations almost every other weekend so I couldn’t commit to such a labor intensive project at the time. I decided there was no harm in asking the kind folks at Photowall if this was an initiative that could wait until September when I was already planning to turn Ralph’s bedroom into a game room and…

My First Day of School Outfit & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #292
Last Thursday, I shared my Essential Back-to-School Checklist featuring some first day of school of photos of my boys with me and Jeff and my in-laws. So I figured today was a good day to share the details of what I wore for my kids’ first day of school. The temperatures are beginning to cool off here in the North Country and it is really beginning to feel like fall. The mornings and evenings are getting brisk and I find myself reaching for extra layers that I can shed throughout the afternoon as it gets warmer. I was actually a little cold in this outfit in the morning and wished…

It’s Not Pie & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #291
Equal Rights For Others Does Not Mean Fewer Rights For You. It’s Not Pie. I saw this tee shirt in a Facebook ad and I had to have it. The message is one that is near and dear to my heart and the delivery of the message really just cracks me up. In particular, the Not Pie part. Really, it’s not pie, folks. There are enough rights available to be shared with everyone and no one needs to get a smaller slice of the pie. Because it’s not even pie! If you want some pie, we can have a giant community baking party with endless pies. That might be fun.…

Songful Style | “Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #290
Yesterday, we shared our sartorial interpretations of Beth Hart’s “Mama” so now it is time to share the inspirational details for our next Songful Style challenge. Marsha has chosen “Over the Rainbow” by Hawaiian musician, singer, songwriter, and sovereignty activist Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, one of the very best versions of this timelessly classic song that I have ever heard. About Songful Style Songful Style is an ageless style challenge series hosted by Suzy of The Grey Brunette, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Each month we will share a song with the lyrics and video and we invite you to use whatever aspect of the song that inspires…

7 Years of Blogging & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #289
I am a day late with my link party but right on time to celebrate my 7th anniversary of blogging. Seven years ago today, on August 24, 2015, I apprehensively hit publish on a post about Church and Church Appropriate Attire. I received two comments on it. One comment was from Jessica of Jeans and a Teacup which came over a month later and one from Patrick of Adventures in Weseland which was posted in August 2020 probably after I linked the article in a newer post. Here is my outfit from that very first post. I actually just got rid of the shirt, pants, and jacket in a massive…

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye. The theme for August is Beachwear or Resort Wear.…
