I am trying so hard to get myself motivated and centered on the positive things in life right now. But with all the uncertainty that we are facing at this time, it is becoming more and more difficult to focus forward and continue on my journey into the future. For the past two weeks, I have allowed this uncertainty to completely block my creativity in both my personal style and my writing goals.

And then yesterday morning, it suddenly occurred to me that I shouldn’t be so concerned with focusing ahead, but rather my attention should be concentrated on the very moments that we are experiencing right now. This is a message that I continually preach in my blog space, my writing, and my life. Focus on right now because right now is the only thing that is guaranteed. I am not sure how I got so off track from that ideal. But I am glad that I came to the realization sooner rather than later before I waste any more of my precious time feeling stuck.

So today I am sharing with you the only outfit that I have worn that isn’t sweatpants or leggings in the past two weeks. And this was inspired by Iris a.k.a. Moumous of La Moumous. Moumous is a fashion blogger, a personal stylist, and a mom of three little ones, 6 year old Aubrey and 2 year old twins Audrick and Addison. Working as a stylist and a blogger while raising three young children keeps Moumous extraordinarily busy, I am sure, and I am so inspired by her and the way she makes it all look so easy.

But I know that it isn’t easy. Because Moumous openly shares her personal struggles on her blog, keeping it real and true and relatable and helpful for all of us moms who struggle every day with maintaining our schedules, ensuring that our children healthy and happy, and keeping our patience from running thin. Moumous does all of this with impeccable style letting us know that even if we feel crazed, we don’t have to look crazed!

When I saw Moumous’ outfit in her post, 5 Underwear Every Woman Should Own, I was impressed by the simplicity of the pieces she combined and how they created a magnificently sophisticated look with things that most of us already have in our closets. White jeans. Yes. Blue button down shirt. Yes. Nude sandals. Yes. While they may not be exact replicas, I was still able to create a similar look in my own personal style simply by shopping my closet. And now is probably a really great time to be shopping our closets.

Since we are unable to really go anywhere during this quarantine, I snapped a few photos around my house. But y’all, it was really cold outside. Like stupid cold. We just had more snow this week so this might be the only spring outfit you see from me for at least a few more weeks (plus I have 8 winter outfits photographed and ready to be shared rather than become wasted efforts).

But back to Moumous…she offers all sorts of style tips, tricks, and other fashion advice as well as sharing helpful information with regard to raising kids. You can also count on her to write powerful posts that empower women everywhere to look their best, feel their best, and be their best.

I honestly cannot remember when I first discovered Moumous, but I have never been less than inspired by the things that she shares on her blog. She is the kindest, sweetest, most encouraging woman always ready to answer your questions and respond to your comments. And she looks freaking fabulous in every darn thing she wears! She is friendly and approachable and I am grateful to count her among my beautiful community of blogging friends.

That is a fresh outfit! Looks very good on you. Also love those feminine sandals and the watch! I didn’t follow Moumous, but now I do! Thanks!

Thanks, Mireille! You have no idea the never ending pile of things jammed into my closet room! It’s ridiculous and kind of embarrassing actually! It was sort of crummy here yesterday, damp and cloudy. We did get outside for a walk and the kids built forts in the yard, in the rain. What a soaking wet mess we had to clean up with blankets they had out there as shelter. But whatever keeps them entertained is worth the clean up process!

I like the way you adjusted your thought process. I am trying to do the same thing over here. Just staying in the house, and reading, scrapbooking, reading blogs…finally – after being out of town caring for my 93 year old mom. We need to enjoy this ‘forced’ slower time. Things will get busy and hectic again before we know it.

Now, to your look and that of your muse Moumous!! You both look so chic. What a simply elegant outfit. And I think I can replicate it! I love blue and white striped blouses/shirts and probably have too many. They just read ‘crisp and clean.’ Your accessories are darling; really like that delicate bangly bracelet. And I like your hair up, too! Sorry you were so frosty during this photo shoot but you look spring-ready!! Stay well.

Leslie, thanks so much! I hope that both you and your mom are doing okay during this rather frightening time. My moods have been up and down lately but that is nothing out of the norm for me anyway. I would love to see your interpretation of this outfit! It is so simple yet so classically chic.

Thank you so much, Lee! It can sometimes be difficult to shift our focus especially at times like these. But once we master that ability and can find a new perspective, it really does ease the levels of stress and anxiety. Stay well, my friend!

Thanks so much, Jodie! You crack me up! I always pin the outfits that I think I might want to copy because I would forget, too. I look forward to seeing how you recreate this look. I am sure you will rock it!

Great inspiration and you’ve got it right. We need to focus on now and how we can get through this with flying colors… if that is even possible.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Lorena! Seriously, shifting my focus to the present and giving all my worries over to whatever higher power is controlling this thing has saved my sanity! Stay safe and healthy, my friend.

You look gorgeous Shelbee. I’m glad I inspired you to come up with such an effortlessly chic look :-). Also thank you for featuring me today. Made my day.

On another note, I don’t see anything wrong with your feet. They look fine to me. You can rock any type of shoes you want (mostly sandal because you have pretty nails :-)).
    Xo,

Moumous, you are so sweet! It took me a minute to remember that I had commented about my feet on one of your blog posts! Haha. But I am still not a fan of too much foot showing in sandals on my big feet! Thanks for inspiring me. Keep shining your beautiful bright light into the world!

Simple and smart outfit. Way to go Shelbee. Visiting you at Thursday Favorite Things Link Party #432. “Secrets to Selecting Top Fashion Colors to Flatter You (203)” is my offering this week. Please stay safe and well and have a great day.

Nancy, thank you so much! Having fun with fashion during quarantine time brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “all dressed up with no where to go”…literally! But all positive distractions are welcomed around here. Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe and healthy!

What a fantastic style steal! You both look fabulous in white and light blue. And very ready for Spring! And you are right, we need to enjoy where we are at, because that’s all we’ve really got. I do think while we were digesting the Corona virus info, it was necessary to look forward, to determine how we were going to make this work. And it’s easy to get stuck there. Glad you and yours are doing well!

Thanks so much, Michelle! It is finally starting to feel like spring as I am able to sit on my porch and work now. It is my favorite workspace. Well, until the yellow jackets start harassing me! We are definitely in this quarantine lifestyle for a while so we have to make the best of it or it will make us bonkers! All we really have is right now. I hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Hi friend! I really appreciate your encouragement to me, as I am having some tough days . I am trying to keep positive and like you are talking about, live for the moment. I think it makes us all anxious to think about all the things we are missing or the people we cant be with.. Focusing on the present can make you relax a bit more – just dealing with day to day.
Love the blue and white on you! Those sandals are very pretty and you beat me to it, with the pedicure. I’ll do my own this week 🙂
    take care!

Aw, Jess, you are so sweet! I know this isolation is very hard on a lot of people. I don’t mind it all that much for an extended period of time, but even I have my limits and need to be social. Maybe we should try to set up a Zoom coffee date or something! I just had a little Zoom chat with Anne and Jodie the other day and it was nice to connect and talk and see faces! We can discuss further in email if you are interested!

Shelbee, that is a GREAT look on you!! Way to go, fashionista! It’s so cool to get inspired by the other stylish ladies, and it’s sometimes the simplest things!! “Confined to home” can sure get you down, so I’m glad to see you are up and ready to inspire us all!

    xx Darlene

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Aw, Darlene, thank you so much! I think I have only gotten dressed 3 times in the past few weeks! But, in my defense, the weather has been kind of crummy here. But I plan to take photographs of more outfits in the coming weeks because there is not much else to do these days! Time to embrace all the positive things we do have…like cute clothes!
