Outfits of the Day #ootd
I love to put together outfits. I find something calming and exciting in the process. And if I think I look good, I tend to feel great! Hopefully, you can find some inspiration here for feeling amazing in your own body.

Out of My Comfort Zone: Camo and Floral
Oftentimes, we get stuck in our comfort zones. It’s a natural occurrence and it’s completely understandable to want to stay within the confines of what makes you comfortable. Because, well, it’s comfortable. And who wants to feel uncomfortable? But I have learned that nothing great comes out of comfort…except, of course, comfort. But if we manage to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones that is where great things can happen. And this carries through just about every aspect of life that I can think of from the everyday mundane things like our clothing to the bigger and scarier things like huge life goals. When I was a competitive swimmer…

How to Wear Over the Knee Socks Over 40 and Link Up On the Edge #14
I don’t really think this classifies as a legitimate “how to” post because it is really simple. You pull on some cute over the knee socks with an above the knee skirt or dress (or shorts) no matter what your age and the rock the hell out it! I am going to totally throw my sister under the bus here (sorry, sis)…back in my mid-thirties, my sister would make fun of me for wearing knee high and over the knee socks. She told me it was ridiculous that a woman of my age would dress that way. At first, I tried to disregard her words. But then after I had…

Fall Florals, Jewel Tones, and Thursday Moda Link Up
Today, I am honored to be co-hosting the Thursday Moda Link Up hosted by the lovely Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood. I was so flattered when Ada emailed asking me if would be interested in co-hosting her fabulous weekly link up. This was my defining moment of feeling like a legit blogger! So thank you, Ada, for that very important affirmation. I want to use this opportunity also to thank all of the blogging community and the amazing women (and men) I have met along this journey. You have all been so tremendously supportive of me and of each other. And it is so appreciated and definitely does not go…

What to Wear (and Cook) for a College Football Saturday Celebration
Labor Day weekend marked the kick off of College Football Season. In my house, we don’t watch very much professional football (unless that is the only football on television), but we do get a tiny bit excited about college football. For my husband, he was raised on college football and has been a Penn State fan for as long as he can remember. For me, I appreciate college athletics much more than I do professional sports. Perhaps because I spent most of my college career as a student-athlete, I understand the sacrifices and crazy time management skills required to be a successful student-athlete. So I appreciate the world of college…

Transition and Edge of the Week Link Up #13
I have always considered myself a fairly adaptable person. I have moved a few times in my life and changed jobs abruptly and found myself in situations where most people would find the transition quite difficult. Yet, I usually adapted pretty quickly and got comfortable where I was at that point in time. However, a recent transition seems to be kind of rocking my world. And it is confusing me! My oldest child has started Kindergarten! And seriously, I am all out of sorts. Not really emotionally out of sorts. Just sort of all around out of sorts. Before school started, I was excited for the inevitable “more free time…

Stepping Out of Summer: 20 of My Favorite Summer Outfits
As the Fall season is upon us and it is still way too hot in northern New York for my perimenopausal self to be donning the latest in autumnal fashions, I thought I would share a little roundup of some of my favorite summer outfits that never made it onto the blog. And if it is still scorching where you live, maybe you will find some late season inspiration as our summer fashion ideas are becoming stale. So to kick off September and the final days of summer…here are some of my favorites from this season! (I generally post my outfits daily on Instagram so if you follow me there,…

Camouflage Pants: Inspired Outfit #2 and On the Edge of the Week Link Up #12
This is my second camouflage post inspired by Sheela Writes, The World According to Eve, and Jodie’s Touch of Style from their camouflage collaboration. If you read my post last week, I styled a Camouflage Bandana. This week, in addition to being inspired by Sheela, Eve, and Jodie, I was also inspired by Karen of She Thought She Could So She Did. Karen styled a pink shirt with an olive skirt and I immediately thought I wanted to pair pink with my camo pants. At first I had coupled a bright pink tee similar in color to Karen’s top and I accessorized with black gladiator sandals and black accented jewelry.…

Don’t Let the Feelings Choke You
If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I have a long, disturbing history with Bipolar Disorder. Through countless hours of therapy, endless cocktails of psychotropic medications, measureless pools of tears, and unfathomable depths of darkness for more than a decade of my life, I somehow found my way to the other side, to a brighter life, to the life I had always wished for. And through this process not only have I discovered myself, but I also learned some very effective coping skills. Being proud of myself for how far I have come in the healing process, I like to share what I have learned…

The Power of No (and a Little Bit of Boho)
I spent the first 30 to 35 years of my life being a “yes” girl. Craving to be popular, to be liked, to being the friend my friends could always rely on. Always. To the point that I exhausted myself. Overwhelmed myself. Literally made myself crazy. I had only myself to blame. You can’t really blame others for taking advantage of the “yes” girl. Probably they didn’t even realize that I was saying “yes” to everyone who asked me for something. And I believe it is just human nature to keep asking the person who always says “yes.” It is like a safety zone from rejection. For the sake of…

Camouflage Bandana: Inspired Outfit and On the Edge of the Week Link Up #11
As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of camouflage anything. Shirts, pants, bags, shoes. I even had camouflage curtains in my bedroom a few years back. But it seems over the past few years, my collection of camo items has dwindled to three: one pair of pants, a pair of blue camo Converse, and a bandana (that I only just found a few weeks ago tied to an old bag stuffed in the back of a closet). It seems either my camo items were just worn to death…I had a fabulous pair of knee high camo boots with buckles up the sides that I literally wore…
