The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Slingback Shoes

November’s theme is Slingback Shoes. It is important to note the specific characteristic that qualifies a shoe as a slingback. Basically, a slingback has an ankle strap that crosses only the back and sides of the ankle and heel instead of the more traditional shoe straps that encircle the ankle all the way around. Slingbacks come in a variety of different shoe styles including a classic heeled shoe with a low vamp as well as sandals. They can be open toed or closed toed and have any variety of heel styles and heights from stiletto to block heels to kitten heels and even flats. Let’s take a look at the slingy shoes everyone has shared with us this month.

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo in either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions get lost in the shuffle.

“I have always loved slingbacks. Such a feminine and elegant shoe. These are corduroy, so I only wear them in the colder months. Because I don’t think corduroy looks good in warmer months. What I love best about slingbacks is that the heel is often not that high. These are super wearable for me and look great under my new jeans!”

“In this photo, I am wearing a pair of bright cherry red Mary Jane sling backs with a low kitten heel. I would say they were a great buy, as these are a pair of my favorites! In this photo, I am wearing them with a red, white and blue outfit from this Fourth of July.”

“For once I have a bad buy to share. While I adore these Betsey Johnson sling backs, they just aren’t comfy. At least I found them when thrifting. So I didn’t spend a lot of money on them. I’m still holding out hope that I can get my bunion stretchers to work on them, but I don’t have a lot of hope.”

“These are a pair of L’Artiste sandals. I’m calling them slingbacks. I love all the different patterns on them, including the houndstooth!”
