Songful Style Link Party #47: “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Just like last month’s Songful Style challenge, this one took me way out of my comfort zone as well. I freaking hate jeans particularly on my body, but I wore them anyway because it seemed appropriate for this challenge. Just like last month. And I still hate jeans. I really should just purge them from my closet. But I probably won’t. Ha. About Songful Style Songful Style is a style challenge series hosted by Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, Marsha of Marsha in the Middle, and Suzy of Suzy Turner, The Grey Brunette. Each month we will share a song with the lyrics and video and we invite you to use whatever aspect…

Big Blanket Love & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #800
If you recall, I shared some of my favorite Christmas gifts back in January including this Big Blanket Premier Plush™ Wrap in Moss. Since this wrap is considered loungewear, I have been wearing it primarily at home while lounging. It hadn’t immediately occurred to me that I can wear it outside of the house as a cozy topper for cold weather. Once I remembered that I am not generally a person who adheres strictly to labels, I decided I needed to create an outside outfit with my Big Blanket as the focal point. Before I get to the outfit, let me tell you some stuff about this amazing Big Blanket…

Um…13? Say What?
My last born child is 13 today. How? Just how? Time truly does fly by in the blink of an eye. Happy Birthday, Ralph! He is smart and funny, gifted in academics, athletics, and music, and stubborn as a mule. He challenges me in many ways but makes me proud in many more. He came into the world screeching like a pterodactyl and he is still making all kinds of noise. Sometimes it’s lively piano music and sometimes it more resembles the screech of a banshee, but as long as he’s making noise I know he is healthy and happy! I went digging through old Facebook photos to create a…

A Boho Twist on FJackets Purple Leather Coat & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #799
Recently, I was invited by FJackets to review a leather coat of my choice and I was more than happy to accept the invitation. I received this jacket in exchange for my honest opinion of the product. However, to ensure authenticity of my review, I have not been compensated in any other way. FJackets began in 2013 as a small startup focused on creating high-quality leather jackets for U.S. customers. By 2017, they had expanded their inventory to include leather bags, pants, and wallets. In 2021, FJackets began offering their products internationally and added belts, leather shorts, varsity jackets, wool coats, T-shirts, and even vegan jackets to their product line,…

The Thrifty Six Focus on Necklines
It was Jodie’s turn to choose our thrifty theme this month and she decided to focus on necklines. This was a fun theme to interpret in unique ways and spotlight the various details of different types of necklines. Interestingly, all six of us featured completely different styles of necklines…cowl neck, crew neck, boat neck, embroidered vee neck, high collared neckline, and a shirred neckline with a collarless coat. Keep in mind that this is a thrifty style challenge, so we all try to incorporate preloved pieces into our outfits that suit the theme. As you may already know, I have a lot of thrifted wardrobe items to choose from. I…

How to Create a Sustainable Long-Term Care Plan for Aging in Place
Many families find it easy to postpone important discussions such as planning for long-term care during the aging process and other end of life decisions. People tend to make assumptions based on the experience of friends or family members because they lack personal experience of their own, making it difficult to navigate a system they don’t understand. As a result, it is not uncommon for families to procrastinate on properly planning for aging-related changes. It can be a frightening and overwhelming process so many people just ignore it, denying that any planning is needed. However, the changes that come with aging are inevitable (if we are blessed to live a…
