Today is Jeff’s birthday and I found the perfect gift for his first post-Army retirement birthday. When he turned 40 last year, he was an active duty infantry soldier in the United States Army and was not permitted to engage in the use of marijuana products. However, my husband has been a true pothead and Grateful Dead fan since he was a teenager. And now that he has officially retired from military service, he can not only smoke the pot at his leisure, but he can also smoke it publicly now that it is also legal in New York as well as 17 other states, Washington, D.C., and Guam.

As I was brainstorming gift ideas, I decided that Jeff would love a Grateful Dead themed pipe. One quick Google search took me straight to JPDavesCreations on Etsy and I found the perfect pipe with Jerry Garcia’s head on it! JPDavesCreations has been crafting ceramic Jerry Garcia pipes for 30 years and has sold over 2000 of them on Etsy alone. By reading through the reviews on Etsy, I learned that JPDaveCreations has also sold these wonderful pipes at music festivals and other events as well.

When you order your Jerry pipe, you have the option of choosing the Rose or the Steal Your Face design on the stem. You also can choose between green or purple for the mouth piece color. For Jeff’s pipe, I chose a green mouth piece with the SYF design. At just $25, this pipe is way better than any other glass pipe I have purchased and I haven’t seen a glass pipe of this size for under $40 in years. It is a super reasonable price for a handcrafted piece that is sure to start some pretty fabulous pothead conversations.

I gave Jeff his gift the other day because I couldn’t stand waiting any longer. When he first opened it, he didn’t realize Jerry’s face was on it as he twisted it about and inspected every other part of the pipe. Finally I had to flip it over for him at which point he squealed so loud like a 5 year old getting their first puppy…”OH MY GOD, IT HAS JERRY’S FACE ON IT!” Then he packed it up, lit it up, and I nearly died of laughter when Jerry’s head went up in flames to make my husband high.

I also ordered Jeff a SYF Grateful Dead lighter jacket in rose gold from ACatNamedBirdStudios on Etsy. How excited we were when we opened the package and there was also a silver bolt lighter jacket enclosed as well. Big shout out to ACatNamedBirdStudios for a little extra something in a birthday gift!

Shipping on both products, the pipe and the lighter jackets, was super fast. I can’t remember how fast because I ordered them weeks ago to make sure I had them in time. And I definitely had them in time, like within a matter of a few days. And then they made my hippie husband’s birthday super special! We will be sharing some smokes from Jerry’s head in celebration this evening.
