The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Leggings

We are welcoming the new year in one of my favorite wardrobe staples…Leggings! They keep me cozy, warm, and comfortable nearly all year round. The only time I put my leggings away is on the days when it is too hot for tight clothes. But days that hot don’t happen often where I live so my leggings are always readily available for wear at any time. I have thin ones for warmer weather and fleece lined ones for cold weather. I have full length ones, cropped ones, and even biker shorts which are just a really short version of leggings. I have them in many colors, prints, and patterns as well as different fabrics from faux leather to suede to sequined. You can see them all in my reminder post which features nearly one hundred different leggings outfits. But now is the time to see some of the favorite (or least favorite) Leggings shared by readers and blogging friends.

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo in either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions get lost in the shuffle.

“Oh yeah, patent leather leggings! These were so cool. I wore them a lot until they were worn out. Probably should buy a pair of new ones. Definitely a Good Buy!”

“I own at least 50 pairs of leggings…I could wear these everyday because they are so comfortable but my boss at work doesn’t allow tights as pants.”

“I find myself creating outfits over my Yogalates workout outfit which includes leggings in the winter. Here’s my latest of slipping a skirt over them and adding fun boots. I will say these are a good buy because I can layer them under other pants if I need the warmth.”

“I found the perfect post! I couldn’t believe it as I scoured my photos. This is a pair of embroidered Tapestry leggings from April Cornell worn with an April Cornell dress worn open as a duster. I think the striped tee is Old Navy. And, of course, I’m wearing floral combat boots from L’Artiste!”

“I bought these red velvet leggings a year or two ago as part of my Christmas outfit but I find myself reaching for them more and more as I find other tops in my closet that pair well with them; like this argyle sweater with attached collar and tails. The velvet material is just perfect; both soft and yet not too form fitting. They were such a good buy!”

Up Next for February: Suede

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us this month with your leggings! If you would like to join us for the next round, we will be featuring Suede for February. Since traditional suede is made from leather, you are welcome to also share faux suede. I am certain that my wardrobe is home to both real and synthetic suedes which I will share in a few weeks in my reminder post.

We will be featuring Suede for the February edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. If you would like to share your favorite (or least favorite) things made of Suede (or Faux Suede), all you have to do is take a photo or two and email them to us with a brief description about why it’s a Good Buy or a Good-Bye. You are welcome to submit two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Please email your photos and descriptions by the 10th of February to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can add you to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book.

*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.

I have leggings for all seasons too and wear biker shorts under my short dresses in summer. I don’t really own any prints though but I love those plaid ones you’ve shown. I also love Marsha’s embroidered ones. I’m going to have to keep my eye out for embroidered leggings! I’ll check but I don’t think I have anything suede.. not even a purse!

Joanne, thanks so much for joining us! I freaking love leggings and have been wearing them pretty regularly since the 1980s. I enjoy patterned ones but I do prefer solid colors more. They are so comfortable and so easy to style, don’t you think? When it comes to the suede prompt, don’t forget about accessories other than purses like shoes and belts. I have lots of suede shoes and boots that I will include in my big round up reminder post. Hopefully, you will find something!

You are having a very cold winter in the Netherlands this year so I think you should invest a pair or two of cozy leggings! I am all snuggled up in my fleece lined ones right now! It is bitter cold this morning. I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend.

Thanks Shelbee for not forgeting to post my photos for the Good-Buy-Good-Bye-book_leggings. I too started wearing leggings in the early 80’s, before you would hardly see anyone wearing leggings outside the gym. My favorite legging back then would have been the Danskin Supplex ankle length Legging. I still have a few pairs that I wear all the time.
        Again Thanks!

Thank you so much for joining us, Jamie. I appreciate your patience waiting for this prompt! Leggings are just so stinking comfortable and cozy. I don’t understand why more people don’t wear them! However, I did absolutely hate the stir-up leggings in the 80s. Those dang stir-ups always pulled the waist band straight down and made the crotch all droopy! LOL I hope you have a most wonderful weekend.

I too bought stir-up leggings 44 years ago but only one pair which I still have today packed away somewear. But that so funny but the truth on how you can’t keep that style of leggings up where they belong. I only wore them twice as they also hurt the bottoms of my feet. I only wear leggings now and maybe a pair of jeans once in a while but jeans are so uncomfortable and they ride down as well. Odd your not seeing more people wearing leggings because I live in a small northern town and mostly all the young and older women here wear leggings as everyday casual wear. Best of the New Year.
