All Zipped Up & Your Own Twist Link Up #55
April 29 is National Zipper Day, a day to celebrate the humble and extensively useful zipper. A thing that I suspect most of us take for granted. I do believe that this most fantastic of fasteners is one of my favorites. It far surpasses other types of fasteners when it comes to ease, finger friendliness, and versatility in function. We use zippers on so many things…clothing, shoes, purses, backpacks, duffle bags, suitcases, sleeping bags, and tents. Better than buttons and brooches, less complicated than buckles and hooks, superior to snaps and safety pins, and quieter than velcro, zippers are the most preferred type of fastener for people of all ages.…

The Magnificent 8 in Viva Magenta
Viva Magenta! The Magnificent 8 has chosen Pantone’s 2023 Color of the Year as our style theme for this mid-winter outfit post. The timing couldn’t be better to inject some vibrant color into our wardrobe rotations in an effort to brighten up these dreary gray days at January’s end. According to Pantone, Viva Magenta “vibrates with vim and vigor. It is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative…This year’s Color of the Year is powerful and empowering.…

Dress of Many Colors & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #298
This dress of many colors needed many photos to showcase how fun it is and how happy it makes me. Don’t you just love it when an outfit has mood boosting powers? It also reminds me of my favorite Dolly Parton song, Coat of Many Colors. It seems my outfits have been inspiring my music choices recently. My last outfit gave me James Taylor’s Copperline vibes and now I am tuning into Dolly! Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton Back through the years I go wonderin' once again Back to the seasons of my youth I recall a box of rags that someone gave us And how my momma…

It’s Official! I Am a Certified Reiki Level II Practitioner & Link Up On the Edge #314
I had the most extraordinary weekend two weeks ago and I have been so excited to share it with you all. But then I caught the Back-to-School Crud and skipped my post last Friday altogether, pushing this one out another week. I did allude to it earlier this week though. You may have caught the Reiki reference in my crud poem… “...I used yoga and Reiki And resorted to prayer. No matter what I did The crud still made its way here..." It was a very intentional reference and I did use this cruddy sickness as an opportunity to practice my newly learned Reiki healing techniques on myself. While my…

The Back-to-School Crud & My Final Summer Outfit
Happy Hump Day, or in my case, Happy Crud Day! Actually, there isn’t all that much happy about the current crud that is circulating through the germ factories that we call schools. It started last week with Ralph and he missed three consecutive days of school. Then it caught up to me and I haven’t really left the comfort of my couch in five days. And now it got Archie so he has been home for two days, coughing and aching and sleeping. I have managed to do only the bare minimum like cooking and laundry and getting whichever kid is healthy off to school in the mornings. I even…

It’s Not Pie & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #291
Equal Rights For Others Does Not Mean Fewer Rights For You. It’s Not Pie. I saw this tee shirt in a Facebook ad and I had to have it. The message is one that is near and dear to my heart and the delivery of the message really just cracks me up. In particular, the Not Pie part. Really, it’s not pie, folks. There are enough rights available to be shared with everyone and no one needs to get a smaller slice of the pie. Because it’s not even pie! If you want some pie, we can have a giant community baking party with endless pies. That might be fun.…

July’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is all about Jewelry with a Story. Do you have a special piece of jewelry with lots of sentimental value? We want to hear the stories behind your most interesting jewelry, where it came from, and why you love (or hate) to wear it. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not…

This our fifth edition of the Songful Style series…a monthly style challenge that encourages us to use music as our sartorial inspiration. Festival Camping at Smoked Country Jam & Link Up On the Edge #301
We had the best weekend ever at Smoked Country Jam in the wilds of Pennsylvania. As usual, I did not take very many photos at all. I didn’t even take one single picture of the bands who played at the festival and I didn’t get any photos with any of my friends who I saw there. But it doesn’t matter because I was present and living in all of the beautiful moments that happen at festivals like these. About a thousand memories were made in those four days and that can happen with or without photographs. I combined the few pictures that I took with the few that Jeff took…

Celebrate Pride & Your Own Twist Link Up #45
Every year in the United States as well as many other countries in the world, the month of June is recognized as Pride Month, a celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community in honor of the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan on June 28, 1969, when a police bust on a gay bar became violent and the gay patrons as well as neighborhood residents fought back. This event is considered the transformation point for the gay liberation movement with the first gay pride marches taking place in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and San Francisco on June 28, 1970, to mark the first anniversary of the…
