When You Realize Your Strength is a Weakness
When you possess a quality inherent in your personality that has been viewed by many as a strength for your entire life and you wake up one day and realize that is was an extraordinary weakness that has broken your entire sense of reality, it can rattle you right to your core. This is what I have been dealing with this past week and the reason I have been quite absent from my blog and social media. It takes a lot of internal processing to figure out what exactly to do with it all. I had to bring into question my entire sense of self and a large part of…

Floundering Through Life & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #72
I have been floundering through life lately. For months now. And I have been trying to put my finger on the reason. It is a bit out of character for me to be so discombobulated. So I did a lot of soul searching the past few days. I was about to take a nice long blogging break but then decided that my blog is my outlet for processing the things that weigh heavy on my soul. So no break for me. Except a short one next weekend for my brother-in-law’s wedding. I had every intention of sharing a true #SpreadTheKindness post about my dear friend Carol Tsacoyeanes and her inspiring…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-May 2018-Leopard Print
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after a year has passed, we decided to change the series a bit. You can choose whether you want to show…

Shelbee Says…Recognizing the Dangers of Spring Mania
Recognizing the Dangers of Spring Mania *Originally printed in the Spring Issue of Resilientista Magazine. Did you know that approximately 51 million people worldwide suffer from Bipolar Disorder? With a population that large, surely almost everyone knows someone with a Bipolar diagnosis. If you do not suffer personally, it could be a co-worker, a relative, a friend, or even your spouse. Living with Bipolar Disorder, whether you suffer from it yourself or someone close to you does, presents a unique set of challenges with the changing of the seasons. Many people, even those not afflicted with an official diagnosis of mental illness, are familiar with seasonal affective disorder, a change…

Lake Placid Travel Day & Link Up On the Edge #94
Life is really kicking my butt lately. Allergy season is upon us which seems to have gotten the best of me and my kids today. We are all coughing and sneezing and congested and ever so sleepy. So once again, I did not get my post written in a timely manner. And this bothers me some because I am a very timely person. But alas, my muse must be sleeping right now because the struggle is real trying to find the words I want to share. Maybe the allergies have got hold of her as well. Or maybe she is suffering with menopause like I am. I’m tired, my friends.…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-May 2018-Leopard Print
In just 5 days, Nancy and I will be posting the third edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme for May is Leopard Print! Leopard print has become a timeless pattern and functions quite well as a neutral combined with many colors or other patterns such as plaid or stripes. Both Nancy and I are huge fans of leopard print so we decided it would be a fun theme for May. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? It is a monthly series that Nancy and I will both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone…

A Brand New Love Story: My Saranghae Skin Care Routine
Back in March when I attended a blogger meet up in New York City, I was so fortunate to meet Susan of The Midlife Fashionista. Not only is she absolutely stunning and full of energy and kindness, but she is one of the most empowering and supportive women I have met. We have followed each other in the blogging community for some time and were already huge fans of one another. I also have a giant soft spot in my heart for her daughter, Alyssa, who writes the blog Lys Takes Flight where she discusses all sorts of topics dealing with mental illness and self care. This girl knows who…

The Sunday Showcase: A Day Late & A History Lesson Short
When my very dear friend Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood asked me to join her and two of my other very dear blogging friends, Chrissy of Granola and Grace and Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag, as their co-host once again for their monthly link up, The Sunday Showcase, I couldn’t really say no. These three women, after all, are some of my closest blogging friends in all of the blogging realm and I will support them any chance I get just as they all support me. *This is not a sponsored post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. But then I asked Ada, “Is there…

Weekend Wish List: Ruby Ribbon & Cami Review
Recently, I was introduced to Ruby Ribbon, a new line of shaping camisoles that claim you can ditch your bra. When I see an opportunity for ditching my bra while still having adequate support in the boob area, of course I have to give it a try. I received my two new camisoles a few weeks ago and have been wearing one at least 3 days a week in lieu of a bra. I have to report that I am very, very satisfied with the quality and the support they offer in all the right places. I still am not ready to give up my bras entirely for certain outfits,…
