Adventures in Thrifting Part 17: Plaid Waterfall Vest & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #726
I am falling back on my old reliable adventures in thrifting today because I have been so busy, y’all. Busy and lazy. If that’s possible. I guess in the little down time I have between all the busy, I really just want to be lazy, so I am. I have had Carolina on my mind and in my heart recently and have been sending prayers daily to everyone who has been impacted by hurricane season this year. To honor my beloved Smoky Mountains, I am featuring this adorable plaid waterfall vest that I picked up in a thrift store in North Carolina when I went on my road trip in…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 16: Bohemian Maxi Skirt with Suede Ankle Boots & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #719
Lacking in content last week, I decided to resurrect my Adventures in Thrifting series after putting it to rest two and a half years ago. In this randomly unscheduled series, I highlight one or a few preloved items that have made their way into my wardrobe. Many of my favorite clothing items were either purchased secondhand or preloved by someone else who passed them onto me. Because these thrifty finds are budget-friendly and environmentally-conscious, I seem to cherish them a little bit more than brand new items purchased at retail. Secondhand finds are just more special! Since last week’s revival of my Adventures in Thrifting was met with positivity and…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 15: White Floral Dress with a Raggy Scarf & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #718
Way back in the fall of 2020, I started a little blog series called Adventures in Thrifting which focused on my preloved clothing finds. The series was inspired by The Thrifty Six which was launched at the same time. While The Thrifty Six has continued to thrive for the past four years, creating preloved outfits every month with a shared theme, my Adventures in Thrifting seemed to die out after the fourteenth post in December 2021. Today I decided to resurrect my Adventures series. The driving force behind this last minute decision was based solely on the fact that I didn’t have any content planned for today’s link party post.…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 14: White Zara Apron Dress & Link Up On the Edge #274
Back in September, I found two supremely adorable Zara apron dresses on one of my thrifting adventures. The first one I shared was a blue floral print apron dress styled in a very similar way to this white one with a black turtleneck and black chunky boots. I actually styled and photographed this white one first and I liked the layering trick so much that I stuck with it for both dresses. It is the perfect way to take a sleeveless sundress into the colder months. This dress is a very heavy cotton twill material also making it versatile for multiple season wear. The blue floral one is lighter weight…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 13: Vintage Top for a Fall Date Night Outfit & Link Up On the Edge #270
A few weeks ago, we had a date night planned on a random Wednesday evening. It was to be the husband, the boyfriend, and me with dinner, drinks, and conversation on the date night menu. Thanks to our faithful and beloved BFF who generously agreed to sit and play video games with the boys all night, we were able to get this date night scheduled. But as life often does, it interfered with our date night plans when boyfriend couldn’t make it. So Jeff and I headed out alone, taking full advantage of a BFF who agrees to babysit! We had a fabulous dinner at a new-ish restaurant in town,…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 12: Leopard Overalls & Link Up On the Edge #256
It’s been a hot minute since I have shared an Adventures in Thrifting post, nearly two months actually. Since I seem to be lacking writing inspiration at this very moment, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for simple outfit post featuring these new to me leopard overalls. A few weeks ago, I was visiting my friend Denise in her consignment shop, Solitary Consignment (the same store where I worked a few years back), when I spotted these adorable overalls hanging on the rack. I jumped on them really quickly only to find that they are a size medium. Y’all, I have not fit in a size medium anything in probably…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 11: Vintage Bird and Fish Vest & Link Up On the Edge #248
I love thrift shopping for so many reasons including the lower price point than you would pay for new retail pieces. Being a lifelong bargain shopper, I get especially excited when I receive a coupon from my favorite thrift stores. A few weeks ago, I received a birthday coupon for 25% off my entire purchase at Thrifty Shopper and so I headed out for a day of shopping to cash in on my birthday deals. On this particular thrifting adventure, I got a giant shopping bag full of wonderful things for just around $60. My newest obsession is oversized men’s button down shirts. They are so comfortable for lounging in…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 10: Shades of Blue, Big Earrings & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #224
I haven’t been thrift shopping in a few weeks, but I have a pile of really cute dresses that I picked up the last time I made my thrift shop rounds. I was waiting for the weather to warm up a bit before going bare legged and it finally has so I can wear my new preloved summer dresses now. I am all about loose flowing lightweight dresses when the weather starts to get warm. They are so comfortable for all day wear. And when I am just hanging around at home, which I usually am, I can remove my bra and let the girls swing free underneath and no…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 9: Creative Mending & Link Up On the Edge #241
I did it! I finally tackled my ever growing pile of mending and I got straight to the bottom of the pile in just a few short days. The bulk of my mending work was spent on this thrifted polka dotty dress from Zara. My local Salvation Army thrift store has been receiving excess and damaged products from Zara in abundance recently. There is one huge long clothing rack that is filled with just this brand. Most of the items still have the tags on them and are in brand new condition. Some of the items with tags do have minor damage like spots or perfume odors or slight tears…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 8: Seersucker, Gingham, and Argyle for Easter & Link Up On the Edge #238
I haven’t written an Adventures in Thrifting post in over a month so I guess this is the perfect time to share how I created a fun Easter outfit from some thrifted pieces that were hanging around my closet. Do you remember the purple argyle and green argyle sweaters I found in a donation bag in the basement? This pastel pink one was in the same bag along with this seersucker blazer. There is something very nostalgic about seersucker for me. I remember my very first seersucker suit. It was a blazer very similar to this one with matching trousers. I purchased it in the late 1990’s when I was…
