Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Shades of Brown & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #672
October’s theme is all about Shades of Brown, a quintessential color for autumn along with rich reds, deep oranges, and golden yellows. We have already featured Red/Pink and Orange for this series but not yellow or brown. In fact, as far as color prompts go for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we have also covered Green, Black and White, Periwinkle and Purple, Easter Egg Colors, Barbiecore (Hot) Pink, and Gold. If there are any other colors (or prints, patterns, styles, etc.) that you would like to see as a focus for this series, please let us know. We have been hosting this series for a really long time and we are…

Turquoise Paisley Wrap Restyled
In my farewell to summer post on Friday, I shared this turquoise paisley wrap styled over a magenta sundress. Since we are still experiencing temperatures in the mid to high 70s, I am holding on tight to my summer wardrobe until I am forced to add warmer layers. So for today, I am sharing another way to style my bright turquoise summer ruana. I wore this outfit in July when we spent a weekend in the woods in Potter County, Pennsylvania, and I never got around to sharing it. Now seemed like an appropriate time since the weather is still permitting light summer layers. Plus I do like to show…

Let’s Get Down to Business & Your Own Twist Link Up #60
This month’s Your Own Twist honors Business Women Day which recognizes and celebrates the contributions made by women in business. While the first Business Women Day wasn’t officially celebrated until 1982, the holiday’s roots go back to September 22, 1949, when Hilary A. Bufton Jr. and three Kansas City businesswomen founded the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Business Women Day is celebrated annually on September 22, the anniversary of the ABWA. When I first decided on this theme, I had every intention of putting together a very business-y outfit. A blazer, some nice trousers, a fancy pair of heels. But then I didn’t feel like it. I was unsure how to proceed…

The Thrifty Six: Wearing the Zodiac
I am Gemini, the celestial twins. I was born on May 30, 1974, at 7:47 a.m. in Easton, Pennsylvania, under a Libra moon. When Nancy chose this month’s thrifty theme, I knew I had to incorporate elements of both my sun and moon signs because both are part of me. But I wasn’t entirely sure how zodiac characteristics apply to personal style. I dress the way I dress because it’s what I like to wear but I never before considered the influence that my zodiac sign might have on my personal style aesthetic. So I did what any curious human might do and I searched online for Gemini and Libra…

An End of Summer Epiphany: My Walls, My Door, My Rules
Last weekend, I had a most wonderful lunch date with a fascinating new friend. We dined al fresco on the bay and it was a lovely time filled with great conversation and delicious food on a beautiful late summer afternoon. We shared all sorts of stories and personal experiences while we dined, happy and sad and all the in-betweens. Nothing in our conversation led immediately to this life changing epiphany, but I have found that when you engage in deep and meaningful conversations with new people who have new perspectives, it can sometimes unlock ideas and concepts inside your own brain that you maybe didn’t have access to before. As…
