Something in the Orange & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #720
I hope the title didn’t confuse you into thinking this was a Songful Style post featuring Zach Bryan’s Something in the Orange. I do really like that song although I find the lyrics a bit confusing. I guess that makes my confusing title appropriate, after all. I suppose a more relevant title would have been Something About Orange because there really is something special about this vibrant and energizing color. But there truly is something in the orange of my dress…it’s a bunch of beautiful white leopards! When you combine the meanings represented by the color of my dress and the symbolism of leopards, not only is this outfit eye-catching,…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 16: Bohemian Maxi Skirt with Suede Ankle Boots & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #719
Lacking in content last week, I decided to resurrect my Adventures in Thrifting series after putting it to rest two and a half years ago. In this randomly unscheduled series, I highlight one or a few preloved items that have made their way into my wardrobe. Many of my favorite clothing items were either purchased secondhand or preloved by someone else who passed them onto me. Because these thrifty finds are budget-friendly and environmentally-conscious, I seem to cherish them a little bit more than brand new items purchased at retail. Secondhand finds are just more special! Since last week’s revival of my Adventures in Thrifting was met with positivity and…

Adventures in Thrifting Part 15: White Floral Dress with a Raggy Scarf & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #718
Way back in the fall of 2020, I started a little blog series called Adventures in Thrifting which focused on my preloved clothing finds. The series was inspired by The Thrifty Six which was launched at the same time. While The Thrifty Six has continued to thrive for the past four years, creating preloved outfits every month with a shared theme, my Adventures in Thrifting seemed to die out after the fourteenth post in December 2021. Today I decided to resurrect my Adventures series. The driving force behind this last minute decision was based solely on the fact that I didn’t have any content planned for today’s link party post.…

My Magical Mudroom Makeover & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #717
Be forewarned…this is a very long post because this was a very long project. My magical mudroom makeover is nearly complete. I said I wasn’t going to share the transformation until it was totally finished, but the last few little details that I want to add may take some time. I will share my ideas about those final details after I share all the work that I have already done. Project Pantry was definitely a labor of love and a learning experience. Of all the room makeovers that I have completed over the last few years, this one was by far the biggest job and took the most time, about…

Are you feeling blue? I hope so! Because it is time to share your favorite (or least favorite) wardrobe items in Shades of Blue. What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book? The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring…

Extra SIA Outfit: “Suntan” by Françoise Gilot & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #715
Sometimes when I am presented with a Style Imitating Art challenge, I end up creating more than one outfit. Then I choose the best one to share while the other ones end up getting lost in my photo archives. As I was brainstorming topic ideas for today’s post, I kept coming up blank so I started scrolling through my old photo archives from last summer to see which outfits have been abandoned. I found these photos that I had taken for an SIA challenge from last June featuring “Suntan” by Françoise Gilot. This yellow tie dye shirtdress was actually the original outfit I had styled for that challenge, but ultimately…

Monochromatic in Maize & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #714
As my pantry/mudroom remodel continues, I spent most of the last week in my scruffy paint-splattered remodeling clothes sanding the stinky old wood floor and stairs. So I am sharing another outfit that I wore and photographed. When the weather gets hot and sticky, my favorite combination of clothing is a long sundress and a lightweight topper. I picked up this maize colored dress for under $10 last year and I liked it so much that I also bought it in lavender. I have a variety of different kimonos, robes, and other toppers that would coordinate well with the pattern and color of this dress. I must have been feeling kind of…

Leopard Print and Floral & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #713
I am sharing a simple outfit post today because I have been so stinking busy these past few weeks. I started a makeover on our mudroom/pantry as my summer project and it has been one heck of an undertaking. Once I had painted everything including the ceiling, I realized how terrible the carpet was and decided I wanted to paint the floor as well. So we tore out the disgusting old carpeting last weekend. What we discovered beneath was less than ideal but not unworkable with some patience, grit, prayer, and a vision. So I have spent the last few weeks testing my patience, grit, prayer, and vision as well…

The Great Ant War of ’24 & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #712
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, I declared war. By Wednesday, July 3, 2024, I had annihilated my Lilliputian foes. Because my final war tactic was so successful, I feel somewhat of an obligation to share it with you. You might also be in the midst of a vicious battle with tiny black ants. If you are, I know how to win! The initial and unprovoked attack on my home began on the first hot and humid day of late spring. They come every year but generally the troops are small and remain contained around the perimeter of my pantry with a few stragglers making their way into the kitchen. Some…

It is the end of the week and the end of the month which means it is time for a link party and a reminder! For July’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, we are featuring a classic summer staple…Shorts!
