This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
The theme for June is Summer Shoes.
*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.
Now let’s check out some of the favorite (or least favorite) warm weather footwear.
“My Good Buys you will see a lot on my blog, but these flip flops I never wear for outfit photos of course. But in spring and summer I always wear these when I am at home! These are the most cheap (under €10) flip flops but I love to wear them. And I do that for decades. I used to wear them all the time in Ibiza and Lanzerote. So they are totally not stylish, but they are such Good Buys!” -Nancy
“These cork based sandals are so comfortable and will be a great addition throughout the Summer months, so long as we have good weather – they will be coming on holiday with me in June!” -Jacqui
“From the time we have our first, nice, warm-ish spring day until our first frost or snowstorm in late fall I tend to live in flip flops. I have a good dozen pairs of them and these flip flops are one of my favorites. With the cute little flowers and rhinestone details they really do seem to go with everything; even jeans and an old boat neck sweater. They were a great buy as I have gotten so much use out of them.” -Joanne
“I had to include a photo from of our recent Walking Cradles Sandals review since it includes all 3 of us and they are our go-to brand of footwear for comfort and style. When you live in Arizona where June-September temperatures are usually 100 degrees, you live in sandals!!” -Jodie
“The first 3 pairs are GOOD BUYS because I don’t wear heels/wedges much, except when I wear sundresses in warm weather ~ so they have to be neutral and really comfortable. The last pair are my GOOD BYE shoes! They’re really cute, but when you take one step, the flower strap around your ankle starts to fall down, and after 4 or 5 steps, it’s in a puddle on the ground. It takes a minute too, to figure out how to get them on! (Longer to get them than they actually STAY on. Am I supposed to use super glue or tape to keep them up on my ankle??)” -Cindy
And Me!
“I just got these rope sandals from Nomadic State of Mind a few weeks ago and they surprised me by how extraordinarily comfortable they are. They are so comfortable, in fact, that I immediately ordered two more pairs in tan and black. Definitely Good Buys!” -Shelbee
I hope this post has made all of your shoe loving hearts happy! There is so much fabulous footwear here that it is definitely making me smile. Happy feet will always give me a happy heart!
Be sure to head on over to Nancy’s post to see more summer shoes.
For July, share a piece of jewelry that has a story attached to it…whether it is a good or bad one…that’s how it will fit the Good Buy/Good-Bye concept!
You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of July to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight.
*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.
This is not a sponsored post. It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for May’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month we are featuring Polka Dots. I love a good polka dot print. I find them so fun and whimsical with a touch of nostalgia.…
In just 9 days, Nancy and I will be posting the ninth edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme for November is Boots! Any boots will do. Short boots, tall boots, over the knee boots, open toe boots, flat boots,…
This is not a sponsored post. On September 15, Nancy and I will be posting the next edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for September's Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month…
I am a midlife woman, wife, and stay-at-home mother of 2 boys and 2 cats. I have a passion for helping other women feel fabulous in the midst of this crazy, beautiful life.
There is an amusing poem in England called ‘I wish I’d looked after my teeth’ – well I wish I’d looked after my feet !!
I get by in the summer but how I would love to wear Nancy’s gold flip flops instead of wanting to hide all the lumps and bumps of my feet!!
Pamela http://www.style-yourself-confident.com
Oh my goodness, Pamela, that made me giggle but then made me sad for your feet. You shouldn’t have to hide them for any reason! All feet need to be cool in the summer time!
Oh summer sandals are my favourite! I have been missing summer sandals as I have had to wear a lot of sneakers lately to support my knee a bit better – hoping that after this winter of sneaker wearing I’ll be back to enjoying all the pretty strappy sandals next summer!
Thanks for the link up! Hope you are having a good week
Thanks, Mica! I hope your knee gets better quickly so you can get back into your strappy sandals next summer! Have a wonderful day, my friend. And stay warm!
Talking shoes is good medicine for me. I dread buying shoes and my weird feet make finding something that fits a huge challenge. I love the idea of FUN footwear.
Thanks, Michele! I have been shoe obsessed for my entire life. I feel so fortunate that I do not have troubled feet and can really wear most any style of shoe without discomfort. I hope you are able to find fun footwear for your finicky feet! (How about that alliteration?!)
Well this is a fun prompt! I love aq good and comfortable shoe. I just added a pair of cute slides to my summer shoe selection and although they felt great in the store, after wearing them a full day, I got a tiny blister on the side from the top of the slide rubbing. Argh. I love the brown sandals paired with the white dress, my favorite combination!
Thanks, Bo! Oh what a bummer about your new slides. I got a little blister on the back of my heel/ankle last week from a pair of ballet flats. And of course, it is in the exact spot where all of my sandal straps hit! So I guess I will be wearing open backed sandals for a few days until it heals.
We are having hot chocolate weather. Amanda found an Italian recipe and made us some – a small amount but has a big impact. It’s very rich and smooth.
Steve’s blog hop on bethere2day features a flip flop meme today. He is in sync with you!
Wishing you many lovely warm days.
This is fun to read! Love the sandals people are keeping! Those rope ones are cool- very hippie! The Birkenstock type ones look fun too and are comfy. My mom is on the elusive hunt for some shoes because of her bunions!
jess xx http://www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
I like to say, so many shoes… so little time!
Thanks so much, Jess! I am loving my rope sandals! I have three pairs now. And I love all the Birkenstock style sandals. They are my go-to summer shoes lately. I hope your mom is able to find some comfortable shoes soon. I feel very fortunate to have healthy and untroubled feet still. I wonder how Birkenstocks are for bunions? I find them so incredibly comfortable but I am uncertain if they are practical or helpful for bunions.
Darn it, I’m sorry to miss this one – I have a huge collection of colorful sandals! But great to see all the favorites and all the neatly pedicured toes!
Shelbee, I’m so pleased that the post I added to last week’s link-up was one of your favorites. And as for summer sandals, I’m sorry I snoozed on submitting photos of mine. I definitely have a few Good Buys because, like you, I have two styles that I bought in two different colors and another style that I have in four colors. Maybe just buying neutrals would be more frugal but feet don’t change size much so we’ll be wearing our footwear for years, right?
Thanks so much, Rena! If you send me a shoe photo today, I can add it into the post. I have always had that same perspective on shoes…our feet generally stay the same size even as our bodies may be fluctuating. It’s probably part of the reason that I have so damn many shoes! I am working on a huge closet clean out right now and I can’t even begin to think about the shoes! Although I did just donate 20 pairs of flat thong style sandals. My feet have grown too sensitive for wearing those thongs between my toes. So no point in keeping shoes that I am never going to wear again. It felt pretty amazing to ditch those shoes but it was still a little bit difficult, too!
So many cute sandals in your post!! I notice very few high heels but lots of comments about how comfortable the flip-flops and flat sandals are for summer. Thanks for hosting the link-up.
Also — Thank you for participating in Talent-Sharing Tuesdays Link-Up 22.
Carol http://www.scribblingboomer.com
Thanks, Carol! As much as I love a sassy heel, I rarely have occasion to wear them. In winter, heels are never safe where I live. And in summer, if I am outside, it is usually some grassy area so heels are no good there either. Flat sandals are apparently where it’s at for everyone! Cute, comfortable summer feet for the win!
Dang! I can’t believe I missed this one! But, how in the world would I ever narrow it down! I love, love, love shoes! They don’t always love me back, but that’s another story entirely! Thanks, Shelbee, for the link party!
Marsha, if you send me something today, I will add it in! It is difficult for me to pick a favorite pair of shoes from my closet because I have so many favorites, too. Of all the sartorial things that exist, shoes have always been my favorite of all!
I don’t wear sandals amd pretty much wear the same shoes all year around. I am pretty boring. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
