The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Polka Dots

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A while back, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit.

For this series, you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

And now without further delay, let me share with you the Polka Dots that have been submitted this month. Also, remember to visit Nancy’s Fashion Style as well to see some more! Participation was low for this theme…maybe many of you just don’t have polka dots. But maybe these photos will inspire you to add some dots to your life!

And let me start with my co-host, Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style, with her Good Buy Polka Dot Skirt.

“I love this very cheap Zara pencil skirt. It just fits perfect! And it’s black….what more can I say!”

Next is Hilda of Over the Hilda with an updated twist for a old polka dot dress.

Hilda of Over the Hilda

“A dress with a jumper. I love how the jumper/sweater gave a new lease of life to my polka dot dress from the label Biba.”

And now Michele of Thrifted Chic Style with a good buy polka dot dress.

“Definitely a good buy. This Old Navy Polka Dot dress was $8.”

Darlene of Aquamarina Style shared a good boy polka dot skirt.

“This is a vibrant blue and black polka dot skirt that I can wear year-round. It’s from Target, so the price was right! Even though it was too long and I had to pay to have it hemmed ($10), it was under $40. I plan to wear it with sandals or espadrilles and a white or black top or tee this summer.”

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style shared a good buy polka dot sweater.

“I bought this Polka dot sweater and love using it to mix prints. I laugh because in the past I though polka dots were too young for me. I’m so glad I’m over that!! LOL”

And finally, one of my favorite polka dot dresses.

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

“This vintage style green polka dot dress was gifted to me from Zaful (so I didn’t buy it), but I absolutely adore it. I remember getting so excited when it arrived in the mail! I love the shade of green, the polka dot detail, and the vintage style. The skater style dress is my favorite silhouette. I don’t wear this dress much because I don’t have many occasions for such a dress, but I will keep it just in case that special occasion arises!”

And now hop on over to Nancy’s post to see some more Polka Dots!

The theme for June will be Jumpsuits. So send us some of your favorite (or least favorite) Jumpsuits. They could be shorts or pants, long sleeved, short sleeved, or sleeveless. Even denim overalls will count (because that might be all I have to share)! Whether you love or hate them, we want to see them!

Send your photos with a few sentences describing your Good Buy or Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlight! Please submit your photos with a brief description by the 10th of May to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com.
