Pink Peacock Wrap & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #764

Before I get to the pink peacock wrap, do you remember my burnt ochre dress from last summer? When I shared the third styling of that super comfortable dress, I mentioned that I had recently found the same dress in black. It was on clearance because it is last summer’s dress. But I don’t care about which summer this dress was manufactured for retail sale because when you get to my age all the summers start blending together and you are no longer a slave to the “current” trends. It took me decades to settle into my “old gray haired hippie” aesthetic and I have no intention of changing it now just because a dress is from last summer or even from the last decade. I will wear whatever the heck I want in a bold and ageless way.

Lately, however, I have been steering away from black and other neutral colors in favor of bright, visible, cheerful colors but I still couldn’t resist adding yet another black maxi dress to my wardrobe. Black clothing doesn’t photograph very well, but it is practical and easy to style so I’ll keep my black dresses around even during this colorful stage of my life.

Speaking of bright, visible, cheerful colors, wait until you see my front porch makeover. My house is definitely visible now! But I have a lot more to do before I share pictures. It is turning out to be a much bigger painting project than I had anticipated, but it will be worth it once it is finished.

I guess that’s enough about this dress. I have raved it about plenty with the burnt ochre version and the batik suns print version. I also have the same dress in a pink and orange retro floral print which I still haven’t photographed, but I will. Maxi dresses are totally my summer jam as they are the best layering pieces for my extensive collection of kimonos, robes, wraps, ruanas, and other toppers.

It doesn’t really matter how many robes and toppers I own, I still cannot resist adding more to my wardrobe. Since recently purging my closet of approximately 200 pairs of shoes, it seems I now have more room for robes!

My sweet mother-in-law is very well informed of my topper addiction so it is her go-to idea for gift giving occasions. Having gifted me many different toppers over the years, she basically always gets it right but this most recent gift for my 51st birthday in May is probably the rightest! I can’t get enough of this super fun, brilliantly bright, pink peacock wrap. First of all, I love peacocks. Second, I love “unnatural” colors on “natural” things like red leopard, teal leopard, rainbow snakeskin, or pink peacocks. So naturally, I freaking love this wrap. I have worn it a bunch of times already and received compliments from strangers every single time. This isn’t surprising because it is a fabulously amazing print of fantastical pink peacocks.

I styled it over my new black maxi dress because it allowed the bright pink color and fabulous print to really stand out. While it is an eye-catching combination, for sure, it is a really simple outfit formula consisting of just six elements…dress, wrap, black rope sandals, straw hat, big heart necklace, and bright pink feather earrings with a fanciful leopard print.

I will likely be packing this outfit to go away for the weekend with the in-laws. In fact, my entire wardrobe will be long dresses and lightweight robes for a relaxing weekend at a cabin in the woods. I have been painting for days on end and I could really use the break!

What are your plans for the weekend?

    Thanks for the feature!
I’m investigating another #itsgonenow mystery… it’s taking a while. I’m having trouble retracing my drive via Google Street View. Now it’s a search I won’t stop until I find the location! I just remembered that I time-lapsed that particular road trip which will be a most helpful reference.

It’s been a busy July in Anne Land. Curated and hung a 3-day popup show for my textile group. Weeks of planning, multiple days of setup. Worth it? We’ll find out starting at 4pm tonight. In addition, I’m embroidering shoe prints. Goal is 50 for a show, deadline in August.

Can’t wait to see your refreshed porch! You do such a great job with your home improvements!

You have been busy, my friend! I have been seeing some of your shoe embroidery on social media and it makes me smile! You are so very creative! I hope your pop-up show went well! I am really excited about my porch makeover. It is super bright and it has all the neighbors talking. Hahaha. It is going to take me all summer to complete, I think. Because once the porch is all painted, I need to paint all the shudders as well. And that is going to be the biggest challenge of all!

      xoxo

I totally get you bought the same dress in this color. When a dress feels good, and looks nice and feels like it’s your style, you can never have too many I believe ; )
