With Independence Day quickly approaching as the quintessential All-American holiday and the epitome of summer celebrations, I thought I would provide you with some outfit inspirations in our national colors. Hopefully, you can find some inspiration for your barbeque, picnic, party, or firework outfits! Outfit 1: Blue and white floral and stripes with red accents. My Old Navy Rewards Haul and A Link Up
I challenged myself this week to do something I have never accomplished before! I had a $15 rewards certificate for Old Navy and I wanted to go into the store and spend as close to that $15 as I could. In the past, if had rewards I would inevitably spend hundreds of dollars beyond the rewards amount. That makes my rewards much more rewarding to Old Navy then it does to me! This time the rewards were about me and what I could score…essentially for free! My method: I went straight to the clearance section without allowing my eyes to stray and see all of the lovely new items on…

A Little Black Dress
I have an entire section of my closet that is dedicated to little black dresses…that I never wear! The LBD is such a classic look and I understand that every women is supposed to have least one LBD. So I am always adding more when I find one for a great price. But I never wear them. Until I received an email from Nina of A World of Dresses inviting me to join her Little Black Dress Party, a collaboration of women styling their LBD’s which is due to happen on June 22, 2016. So, of course, I had to style one of the many LBD’s in my closet! I…

Too Much Tequila, A Tantalizing Tunic, and Finding My People
Yesterday, we had some friends come over for an afternoon/evening of great food, delicious drinks, and a lot of laughs. Apparently, by the end of the night, I was drucking funk which is actually quite humorous since I am not much of a drinker at all. But these drinks! I found this recipe for the Dialexa cocktail in the June 2016 issue of Redbook. We decided to just make an entire pitcher of this heavenly concoction! Actually, we made two pitchers…and drank it all. To make this cocktail by the pitcher, we just followed the same ratios but on a grander scale. We muddled a bunch of pineapple and watermelon…

A New Twist on an Old Tunic
I bought this tunic last year from Old Navy but I never wore it much because every time I put it on the length and volume overwhelmed my body to the point of complete frumpiness! I really wanted to wear this top though the other day because it was pouring rain and I loved the pattern paired with my pink and black floral rain boots. I thought if I layered it over leggings and added my boots, it would look more like a cute dress. But again, frump-ville. So I started playing with the front of the tunic in an attempt to give it some shape. First I knotted it…

Menstrual Cycle Mayhem
I don’t know about you all, but sometimes my menstrual cycle determines what clothes I am going to wear. Yes, I am going into this unspeakable realm of the female menses! When the flow starts and the misery sets in, all sorts of things make me crazy! At this perimenopausal stage of life that I am in, I have raging mood swings. Actually I shouldn’t even call them mood swings because there’s not too much swinging going on…it’s mostly all just rage. And it’s awful. I apologize to all who have to deal with me at this time of month…my husband, my children, my friends, even my pets fall victim…

Kimono Love
I bought this kimono last year on clearance for about $6 and only wore it once. It didn’t fit quite right in the shoulders but I have since lost a few pounds and now it feels more comfortable. I’m kind of having a love affair with it now…expect to see it more on my Instagram page! I love how it disguises the parts I don’t want bulging out and around. I love how the long length makes me look leaner and taller. I love the versatility of the colors and style. I love how the fringe makes me feel a little boho. I love that it is super lightweight so…

Mind Your Words
We as human beings have many ways of communicating with each other…words, body language, facial expressions, actions, the way we dress, the way we walk, our overall presentation of ourselves to the world. So you see, there are many underlying reasons why I do the things I do. Getting dressed to feel good and present a positive image of myself to the world is important to me. It communicates that I have pride in myself, that I take care of myself so I can take care of the people in my life that need me. It communicates that I make an effort to participate in my life everyday and to…
