My Asheville Experience & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #130
My experiences are generally about the people. The people we meet. The people with whom we make connections. We all exist within a different context depending on the people around us. The chemistry is different with each and every relationship. The structure shifts depending on our environment and what and whom surround us at any given moment. We are relational beings and as such we exist directly within the context of each relationship. Whether it be a brief encounter or a long standing friendship, our relationships with other people contribute to the definitions of us. Last week, I wrote about my experience traveling to Millheim, Pennsylvania. While much of that…

It’s Independence Day & Link Up On the Edge #152
Happy 4th of July from Asheville! I am sitting here in my hotel room this morning with not much planned for today. The traveling kind of wiped me out and then I stayed up way to late on my first night in Asheville. But I had the most wonderful time! As wonderful times often do, it caught up with me last night and I hit the bed early, slept 10 hours, reset myself, and now I am just doing some laundry and figured I would check in on the blogging world while I wait for the dryer to finish doing its thing. I also wanted to share this pretty Feeling…

Welcome to Millheim, Pennsylvania & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #129
I know. I know. I know. I said I was taking a blogging break. And what happens when I finally say it? I get inspired. And I cannot ignore the inspiration when it hits. Any creative person knows this. We live for that moment. We wait for it. We seek it out in all corners of our existence. We exhaust ourselves trying to tap into it. We get tired. We take a break. And it is right inside those breaks where we find our inspiration. You can’t fight against the universe. You just have to succumb. And when you finally do, she delivers in spades. So that’s what I did.…

Summer Sun, Something’s Begun…with Rosegal
Yesterday, I showed you my new cat bikini set from Rosegal, so today I want to share my vintage inspired polka dot bikini. This polka dot bikini gives me all the Sandra Dee and Beach Boys vibes. If you are as hesitant as I was to sport a two piece swim suit, the high waisted bottoms from days of yore are absolutely the way to go! They cover all those places we may not want exposed with just a little hint of skin. The halter style top is also really great for giving support to those of us who are top heavy. I have always had problems with proper fit…

Heading into the Sun with Rosegal
I know in Thursday’s post I said I was taking a blogging break as I head off for vacation. But then some dates were changed for posts that I am obligated to share. It’s okay though because I am all packed and hitting the road later today and had some time to share with you one of my new swim suit from Rosegal. And yes, it is already packed in my suitcase for Asheville! I have been wearing the same swim suit for the past 3-4 summers and it was high time that I got me some new ones. I was super hesitant about ordering online and even more hesitant…

Inspired by Style Elixir: Metallic Print Dress & Link Up On the Edge #151
This is a rare occasion when I am writing a post that features the outfit I wore on the exact day that I am writing the post. Usually, I take outfit photos and edit them and then they sit in a stored file for about 2-4 weeks before they ever appear on my blog or social media. But on Tuesday, I saw Lauren of Style Elixir wearing the prettiest black maxi dress with gold metallic dots. It immediately reminded me of this shorter dress I recently snagged off the Kohl’s clearance rack for somewhere close to $10. My dress has gold stars rather than dots, but it was very similar…

The Fab 40’s Celebrate Pride Month & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #128
Warning: I might get a little ranty in this post. I cannot help myself. It is a topic about which my passions run high. Very high. June is LGBT Pride Month, chosen this month to commemorate the Stonewall Riot in New York City on June 28, 1969. This June 28 marks 50 years since that riot which was the impetus for the LGBT rights movement that we see making a huge impact in the world today. It was my turn this month to choose the theme for The Fab 40’s. It didn’t take me long to decide. By choosing LGBT Pride not only are we showing you have to have…

The Great Topper Confusion & Link Up On the Edge #150
I am calling this pretty Wedgewood blue topper a kimono, but that is kind of confusing because it really is not a kimono. Country Outfitter is calling it a shawl. And it got me thinking that I cannot possibly be the only who gets confused by these terms for outfit toppers…kimonos, ruanas, ponchos, shawls, wraps, sarapes…so I took to the internet to find some clarifying definitions. They really aren’t all that clarifying. The piece I am wearing is called the Santorini Shawl. So what exactly constitutes a shawl? A shawl is usually long and rectangle shaped, similar to a scarf, that is draped over your arms and back and held…

Inspired by Walking in Memphis in High Heels: Spring Style
It is the final day of Spring with the Summer Solstice coming tomorrow and I am only just now getting to show off some actual Spring clothes! I have had this darling little dress hanging in my closet for a few years and have shown it on the blog once before styled with tights and over the knee boots in Winter. Because when you live in a place where it is Winter for eleven months and Summer for one month, you have to get creative with clothing for different seasons. I don’t want to look like an Eskimo all year round! Back in March, I saw Laura of Walking in…

Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: Seasons and Silliness
Spring might have finally arrived in northern New York this week just in time for the arrival of the Summer Solstice. But until then, it has been really quite cool. Which is okay, I guess, since I am on a kick with fun colored tights lately. Maybe by the time Autumn rolls around, we will experience a few days of Summer like weather. “Spring is the time of year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade.” Charles Dickens, Great Expectations I know buffalo plaid seems an unlikely pattern to wear during the warmer months, but when I spotted this little twist front tank top from…
