The Importance of Art with SmitKit Studio & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #145
“Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.” Pablo Picasso You probably remember this outfit from Thursday when I shared my Halloween Costume Ideas featuring a giant furry unicorn head and a witch hat. Well, after the photos were taken, I ditched the headgear and headed off to an art show at SmitKit Studio: Center for Creativity located in the historic Paddock Arcade in Watertown, New York’s downtown square. I know this outfit is a little bit wild for making my way around town on a Sunday afternoon, but it was an art show and I was definitely showcasing my artistic side. Plus I was already dressed.…

The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #7: Some White Out Magic & A Sprinkling of Luck
#7 Penn State Nittany Lions 28 – #16 Michigan Wolverines 21 The White Out! A feared name and quite possibly the most electric home game atmosphere in college football. Over 110,000 college football fans clad in all white, energized by all day tailgating create an amazing sight to witness and an even more amazing crowd to be immersed in during a White Out game. I have attended two of these games in previous years. My first White Out game, which was also the very first Penn State game that I ever attended, was in 2008, against Illinois and then again in 2009 against Iowa. Since those first two games, I…

How 20 Minutes Can Save Your Life & Link Up On the Edge #167
“I would encourage you: be informed – knowledge is power.” Matt Bevin I am sure you are all aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But we need to be alert and on top of preventative measures all year long. Just as cancer doesn’t decide to strike only in October, we need to be scheduling our annual mammograms all throughout the year. However, I always get my mammograms in October because it is the easiest for me to remember. You know, at this stage of life, the memory is the first thing to go! Due to my age and my health, my doctors have recommended that I have my…

Halloween Costume Ideas & Your Own Twist Link Up #13
I can’t believe a year has passed since Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart, and I first debuted our series, Your Own Twist. This is a monthly series where we showcase our own interpretations of a chosen style theme. We share the theme with you ahead of time in case you are interested in joining us. You can see the upcoming themes below if you would like to create your own post around the theme and share it with us in the link party at the end of the post. For this month’s theme, we have chosen Halloween costume ideas yet again…well, because, why not have some fun in October!…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Leather & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #144
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have…

The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #6: Surviving the Kinnick Graveyard of Ranked Teams
#10 Penn State Nittany Lions 17 – #17 Iowa Hawkeyes 12 Kinnick Stadium. A stripe out. The infamous pink locker room. Primetime on a Saturday night. This creates an atmosphere that inspires fear in ranked teams that visit Iowa. In 2008, I watched as #3 Penn State’s national title hopes were lost on a last second field goal to a 5-4 Hawkeye team. In 2010, #5 Michigan State came to Kinnick and walked out being beaten 37-6. The 2011 season saw #13 Michigan defeated by an unranked Hawkeye team. In 2016, an unranked Iowa team defeated #2 Michigan on a last second field goal, a win that would help set up Penn…

Harley & Link Up On the Edge #166
Who’s ready for some more old poetry from yours truly? And a little look at me then and now? When Jeff and I first met in September of 2008, he had a Harley. And my God, was it sexy. This big burly soldier would come riding up to my apartment on his motorcycle and I would come running out in my sassiest motorcycle gear, hop on the back, and off we would go. I felt a bit like Stephanie Zinone (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) in Grease 2 the first time she jumps on the back of Michael Carrington’s (played by Maxwell Caufield) motorcycle and he whisks her off into her…

Inspired by Pinterest: Jeans and a Blazer
I have been riding the struggle bus this week. Actually, I feel less like I’m on a bus ride and more like I got run over by the struggle bus. No joke. This premenopausal stage of life is not for the weak. And I am feeling pretty damn weak. There is not enough caffeine in the world to battle the debilitating fatigue that hits me every month the week before the dreaded menstrual period arrives. Granted my period itself is not so terrible anymore, but the PMS symptoms are absolutely life altering. I simply cannot function. I want to curl up in my sweatpants, eat all the Doritos and ice…

Body Slender Laser Lipo Session & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #143
I want to start by clarifying that I received this laser liposuction session for free from a raffle that I had entered in a local boutique. I am under no obligation to share about this service, but it was all so interesting that I figured why not share. Also, laser lipo was not something that I had ever considered doing. I had merely entered the drawing because it was there. I never thought my name would be picked nor did I much care. But when I got the phone call that I had won a free session, I thought it would make for interesting blog content. So here we go……

The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #5: Where Did All the Offense Go?
#12 Penn State Nittany Lions 35 – Purdue Boilermakers 7 Seriously, where did all the offense go? That was the question of the second half at Beaver Stadium for the Nittany Lions yesterday. Scoring on their first four drives and sprinting out to a 28-0 lead with ten minutes to go in the first half, the Lions and their powerful offense were held in check by a Boilermaker defense in the second half before scoring again with six minutes to go in the game. Sean Clifford’s second interception of the year was really the turning point for the offensive shutdown. It seems that this play was enough to give Purdue…
