Holiday Looks & Your Own Twist Link Up #15
Your Own Twist is a monthly series hosted by Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart and myself where we showcase our own interpretations of a chosen style theme. We share the theme with you ahead of time in case you are interested in joining us. You can see the upcoming themes below if you would like to create your own post around the theme and share it with us in the link party at the end of the post. Well, here we are, less than a week away from Christmas, and honestly, I am looking forward to it coming to an end. We don’t have much planned this year just an ugly Christmas…

What to Wear on a Holiday Date
Yesterday, I shared all about my holiday date in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, over Thanksgiving weekend but I didn’t show you what I was wearing. And since this is a bit of a fashion blog, I didn’t want to confuse you all into thinking that I wasn’t dressed appropriately. Of course I was. And any outing is a photo opportunity when you are a blogger. Everyone knows that. We spent 6 days in Pennsylvania during the week of Thanksgiving and in my attempt to pack light, I only brought a few sweaters and scarves, two pairs of jeans, three pairs of boots, one set of jewelry, and one coat. All carefully…

Holiday Date in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #153
During my wonderful Thanksgiving holiday in Pennsylvania, Jeff and I had the opportunity for a date day that Saturday. I was itching to go thrift shopping, on a quest for some skirts to style with my ever growing collection of colorful tights, and we were hankering for a peaceful kid-free lunch somewhere. We were deciding which direction to head for our date day when I remembered that I had a gift certificate that was so generously given to me back in July when I visited Jim Thorpe to see my fave band, Fireside Collective, perform at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. I spent that sweltering July afternoon visiting the local…

The Canadian Tuxedo: Twinning with Radical Ralphie
Did you know that the term Canadian Tuxedo originated in 1951 when Bing Crosby was refused entry into a Canadian hotel because he was wearing a denim top with denim bottoms? Apparently, this denim on denim look did not satisfy the dress code. Upon learning of the incident, Levi Strauss designed a denim tuxedo as a publicity stunt and the Canadian tuxedo was born. Read more about The History of the Canadian Tuxedo. Those fashion forward folks reading this may already know that denim on denim done right is perfectly on trend while a double denim concoction with too closely related denim pieces can be a fashion disaster. Generally, when…

The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #15: All Streaks Eventually End
Since Penn State is off for a few weeks preparing for the Cotton Bowl on December 28, 2019, we are covering the Army-Navy game instead. Of course, we were cheering for Army, but unfortunately, we were left disappointed. #23 Navy 31 – Army 7 It was fun while it lasted. But just like Navy’s 15 year winning streak against Army that was snapped in 2016, eventually Army’s winning streak against Navy would also come to an end. I will point out that in 2016 when Army won against Navy, the team wore uniforms modeled after the 82nd Airborne Division. In 2017, when Army captured the Commander in Chief’s Trophy for…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Faux Fur
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for…

Why Getting Dressed Up is Important to Me & Link Up On the Edge #175
There are so many times, like multiple times a day, that I wonder if this blogging thing is really just frivolous and vain, pointless and silly. That old arch-nemesis of mine, Imposter Syndrome, sneaks in when I least suspect her and brings mental turmoil and overwhelming amounts of self-doubt with her and drops them proudly at my feet like a cat with a fresh kill so very excited for the hideous gifts she presents to me. What am I to do with such presents? First and foremost, I stand there in shock that she would bring me these things yet again. Especially since I have made it abundantly clear that…

Inspired by Elegantly Dressed and Stylish: Red Sweater Dress for the Holidays
For my entire life, literally for as long as I can remember, green has been my favorite color. But ever since I started this blog, which obviously requires lots of photographs of myself, I am realizing that while green might be my favorite color, red might possibly be just my color. Over the past few years of blogging, I have been adding more and more red items to my closet. I will often add bits and splashes of red into my outfits which tend to be heavily anchored in black. But every once in a while, I will step out of the black and into the red and what better…

What Not to Wear for Airplane Travel
My last two posts have included photos from last Friday when we drove Jeff to the airport for a two week work-related trip to Georgia. I sure hope he is enjoying some warmth and sunshine down there because it has been nothing but rain and snow up here. I am already dreaming of spring, but winter hasn’t even officially arrived yet! I decided that since we were going to the airport, we might as well take the opportunity for some blog photo shoots with different scenery. You can see Radical Ralphie’s photos in Monday’s post. I was hoping for outdoor photos along the way, but due to our time restraints…
