Halloween Decor, Shelbee on the Edge

My Spooky Halloween House & Link Up On the Edge #266

Halloween Decor, Shelbee on the Edge

The first time I ever decorated my house for Halloween was in 2019 at the urging of my children to get a little more festive for this spooky fun holiday. I didn’t do much in 2019 except hang the two giant spider webs and the wispy white creepy cloths. Of course, the kids’ jack-o’-lanterns were part of the porch decor as well. (We haven’t even picked up any pumpkins yet this year.)

Then last year, we added the bloody animal heads when I discovered the stinky basement odor inside the heads made them unwearable. The kids had such a great time creating this gory Halloween porch ornament that we decided to add some more creepy gory stuff again this year.

We kept the bloody animal heads the same but added some cobwebbing around the hula hop. I think we need to stretch the webbing out a little thinner. But that is a tedious process that I may not be in the mood for at the moment.

Jeff took control of the porch decor this time around and made an outing of it with the boys to pick up some Halloween blow ups from Lowe’s. He said there was very little to choose from as the Christmas decor has already taken the prominent spot in the holiday decorations section. But they did find the cute triple skulls blow up and the creepy clown one (not my favorite thing ever) as well as the light up tombstones. I think we killed the lights on those things already though.

Then one of Jeff’s co-workers very generously loaned us this amazing skeleton. We had the kids and their friends destroy and bloodify an old Army uniform for him to wear. The ghoulish glowing head hanging over the skeleton’s head is a recent purchase from Amazon. It generally retails for around $30 but my sister sent me a coupon code and I got for $8. It is currently on sale for $9.99. It is a really cool and creepy decoration for $10, but it is definitely not worth the full retail price of $30. The battery for the lights only lasted a few hours and it is constructed from very cheap materials.

“On Halloween, witches come true; wild ghosts escape from dreams. Each monster dances in the park.”

The blurry photos add a little extra creepy factor to it, don’t you think?

My next door neighbor was telling us that her girls have informed her that since we have upped our Halloween game, they need to start doing something for Halloween as well. I laughed so hard when Jeff replied to her, “Now don’t go making this personal because I will go all Griswold on you if you do!” I am so blessed with the best neighbors who all have awesome senses of humor! We do have so much fun in our little neighborhood!

And then there’s Ralph’s costume. I am dying over this thing! Archie’s costume just arrived so I don’t have any photos of his yet. But I will be sharing my own Halloween costume on Thursday so please stop by back then. It is my favorite one yet! In the meantime, won’t you check out yesterday’s post for lots of fun Halloween outfit and costume inspiration.
