Hiking Coney Mountain & Spread The Kindness Link Up On the Edge #761

We are currently unplugged from our phones and computers while we are enjoying the beautiful views and stellar music at the Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival in “God’s Country”, Pennsylvania. Because we are unplugged, I rarely take photographs at the festival so I never have anything to share here afterwards. Instead, I am going to share some photos of our family hike at Coney Mountain in Tupper Lake, New York.

Memorial Day week was a busy one for us with my husband’s birthday falling on the actual holiday this year and my birthday arriving at the end of that week. To celebrate his birthday, Jeff really wanted to go on a family hike in the Adirondack Mountains. To avoid the holiday weekend crowd, we all took Tuesday off from our regular obligations (Jeff skipped work and the kids skipped school) and headed north for a birthday hike.

I am not much of a hiker myself and I don’t even have proper hiking footwear, so Jeff chose one of the easier mountains to hike so I wouldn’t be totally miserable! The mountain summit has an elevation of 2,267 feet with a total elevation gain of 560 feet when hiking the trail. It is about 1 mile from trailhead to summit, making it a 2 mile round trip hike. Even an old gal like me can handle that all while wearing improper shoes.

The view was definitely worth the walk!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. May the days be warm and sunny!
