Walmart Pajama Style Take 2: Same Print, Different Nightgown

Yesterday, I shared my first Walmart pajama style outfit featuring a muumuu layered over a sleeveless nightgown. The muumuu is the same print as this long slip style nightgown. I bought these nighties on clearance at the end of last summer and only got to wear this one once before it got too cold. Initially, I was only going to buy this sleeveless nightgown but I loved the print and the price (both were $7) so much that I ended up grabbing the muumuu, too. I also bought this same nightie in black with a giant leafy print in white, which I will share soon. Sleeveless slip style dresses and nighties are one of my favorite styles of long dresses. Sometimes they can be a bit shapeless but who needs shape as long as you are comfortable? Comfortable and visible seems to be my current style aesthetic. And this outfit is both!

The accessories I wore with my first iteration of this wildly colorful print worked so perfectly that I kept them the same for this outfit…a pile of newly thrifted necklaces in yellow and pink, butterfly wing earrings purchased at a flea market, my bright pink fedora with the obnoxious floral hat band, and my new white Walmart sandals.

Of course, I could have kept it simple and just wore the slip dress with the accessories, but I mentioned previously that I am really into layering pants under my dresses this summer. I love the elongation effect of this layering technique but I also find lightweight trousers to be much cooler during humid days than having my bare legs touching each other!

So I added my new white gauzy beach pants which I found in the Walmart swim section for around $15. And because one print is never enough for me, I topped my layered outfit with a white floral ruana that I picked up at a flea market last spring. I’m not sure the ruana is my favorite topper piece for this slip dress but it’s the one I grabbed so I stuck with it! I actually have about 5 different toppers that would work brilliantly with this crazy fun floral. Maybe I need to style them all for one big post about the versatility of nightgown with a very spirited print. I’ll just add that to my ever-growing list of things to do!

This post has a lot of pictures but I do not have as many words today. I really wanted to have a nice late sleep-in this morning (a late sleep-in for me is 6:30) but Ralph texted me at 5:08 a.m. from a sleepover at his friend’s house that it was too hot and uncomfortable and he wanted to come home. So I was in the car in my actual jammies by 5:15 instead of enjoying my Sunday morning sleep-in!

But that’s okay because I love my stay-at-home mom job. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. At this stage of my life, my whole purpose is to serve my children and husband and make sure that they have all of their needs met. Don’t worry, my needs are always met, too, and because of this perfect balance of love and dedication, my ship is pretty easy to steer! It might be demanding at times, even frustrating, but it’s a life that fulfills me. I am truly blessed and so I wear clothing that express that!

I will leave you on this Sunday morn with my daily meditation…

Just for today, I will be grateful.

I will not worry.

I will not anger.

I will do my work honestly.

I will be kind to myself and others.

I say this every morning and every evening and it really helps to keep me centered and focused on the things that genuinely matter. I highly recommend a daily dose of gratitude to everyone! It truly does make a difference.

Keeping it on the edge,

Shelbee
